Salam,

Not delivered yet!? with whom you sent it?

Koumail,
I sent it via Poste Canada. On Syrian Post website, i can see that they give my letter to a delivery agent but say nothing about the reception by the Embassy. Plus, I asked for a signature on receipt...

I sent my documents first with post canada, but they returned back my package after ten days, because service is suspended to Syria(post canada used FedEx for international shipment).

Regarding the mail; my husband and I have only had luck with shipping through TNT. That is to Iran so it may be different from Syria. But Canada post has lost a few packages.

6 months in processing today..... and no end in sight:(

Question Answer

What is PPR?PassPort Request. This is the final stage of the process in which the visa office asks the applicant to provide his/her passport in person or by carrier.

While waiting for my sponsorship application, can I apply for a tourist visa? Yes, you can, but the chances are very low. Because it's hard to prove that you have strong ties to your home country, given the fact your spouse lives in Canada

While waiting for my sponsorship application, can I apply for a student visa? Yes, you can, provided that you have an admission from a well-known canadian university, you should be able to get your visa, but you will still have to go back to your home country when your sponsorship visa is ready. otherwise it may take a while.

how can I contact the damascus visa office if I have a question? email to damascus-im-enquiry @ international.gc.ca (sometimes their mailbox is full, try again after a few hours)

my medical is expiring, what do you think I should do?Normally you should wait until the officer asks for redoing the test, however, in our discussions, we came to the conclusion that it would not hurt to redo the medical test and have the receipt ready. If they issued the visa and did not ask for the new medical, you have lost only some $200 but if they want you will be at least 5 weeks ahead of the game. In short, it is recommended to redo your medical 2 or 3 weeks prior to the expiration. same applies for police clearance

is there any way to express our frustration to the Citizenship and Immigration Canada? you may fill following survey by Sep 19, 2011
http://www.cic.gc.ca/english/department/consultations/index.asp (here: http://cic.sondages-surveys.ca/s/immigration2/?l=eng)

or you can sign a petition here: http://www.petitionspot.com/petitions/Familyreunification

What is RQit stands for Residency Questionnaire. it's a stupid process which is exclusive to Damascus office. They want to make sure if you are still residing in Canada.

how can i join this forum?provide your detailed information in a posting under this thread, a volunteer will append your info to the list. everyone in this forum is obliged to inform everybody about any updates about their spouse sponsorship applications in Damascus. Damascus office is still active more or less and it is not closed due to the situation in Syria yet. processing time provided by the cic are not accurate at all. when it was 10 months, we had quite a few people who got their ppr in less than 6 months. check out the chart for more info.

Here guys, I made a ticker to make you all feel better.

Don't think because I live with my wife in Iran everything is better. NOT AT ALLLLL.
When we applied, we made plans for everything, first we though it would be 8-12 months max, so we dont have to renew our house, second Canadian Dollar went up like crazy, so i dont even want to think about how much money we are losing (it keeps going up)

Third, my wife acceptance for Mcmaster University (Hamilton, Ontario) for September went to @ # @ @ !#!!!

We had to renew our house and now if we break the lease we pay penalty. Renew our contracts for our jobs and ,,,

We just been asked for renew medical. So from bottom of my hear, I truly wish you guys have better luck than we did.

CoolAmir.... I was wondering, are you allowed to live in Iran while you are sponsoring your spouse??? are you a citizen or a permanent resident in Canada already yourself?? I have heard that your only allowed to visit... I want to go live with my husband until his work is done and we can come back together, but I'm scared.

I am a Canadian Citizen, i lived most of my life in Canada. I got married in Iran and sponsored my wife right here in Iran. I mailed the apps from Iran to Mississauga, Canada. There will be no problem at all.

The only thing that i found out from this form, it might takes longer because we live together. It's been more than 13 months and they just asked us to redo the medical.
My buddy sponsored his wife from Toronto, he came to Iran got married then moved back to Canada, it took only 10 months for them.

I told them everything, i live with my wife, we have a house here in Iran, we both work here in Iran and now we decided to move to Canada.

guys the journey is done for me. my husband got his visa! :)
