Hello damascus brothers and sisters applicants,
we received an update today that they are doing background check
they will contact us if they need anything
my lawyer mentioned that this can take between 3 weeks up to 3 monthsssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssss
cant believe it all this long time,

they probably have started police check when they received ur application
do not be worried... it should be in final stages now...
how did u get this answer ? did u make an official inquiry online ?

Hello Rezan,
yes my lawyer send an inquiry sep 1 and we got an email today confirming background checks are being done now
they requested not to send many inqiries until they contact us later for final stage
it is our first inquiry never contacted them before , anyway at least i know what i am waiting for now
and yes they are so busy according to my lawyer so all the best to all of us and hope that we all hear good news soon

I am going to send an e-mail to Damascus for asking " Have they sent any letter for us after the file number letter ?" because we haven't receive anything. I just want to ask you if contacting with visa office have a formal procedure or we should just send an e-mail about our request...
What do you mean by "inquiry" which your lawyers usually send? Does it have a kind of form or something?

send an email but in formal format and language.
inquiry is for people whom their case is exceeded the normal time frame given in CIC website. It is not applicable to you.
so I think you must send an Email and they will respond to you normally after 2-3 days.

This is my timelines:
-Application received by CPC-M on September 10, 2009.
-CPC-M started processing on October 9, 2009.
-Application returned on October 29, 2009 with a request to submit more documents.
-Resubmitted application received on November 11, 2009.
-Sponsorship approved on November 15, 2009 and application sent to Damascus.
-Processing of application started on November 26, 2009 in Damascus.
-More documents requested from Damascus on March 25, 2010.
-Requested documents sent and received on April 27, 2010.
-Still WAITING!!! (

I'm sponsoring my wife who is in Iran.
Late 2009 applicants, please share your experiences.
I hope everybody get their good news from Damascus sooooooooooon...............!

A new supplementary form is sometimes requested by damascus office for final process and especially it the case is taking too long to process just in case there is/ are any changes in the applicant or sponsor life status work education and so on. they have been asking for this form in damascus lately but no for every case. yes it is form IMM54 .......

Welcome to the forum.It must be really hard for you guys.I pray you will get your visa sooner.Do you have any lawyer?Did you fill the inquiry?I wonder in the website it said 8 months for Damascus applicants for their cases to be finalized.Why does it take you so long? If it is going to take more than a year for all of us, I believe it is better for us to reunite with our spouses. This sepration is really make us sick!!!!

Hello friends,

Kamal225, Zohreh.ty and eli1985 thank you so much for your kind messages.

I sent all documents to CPC-M completely, including Medical and Police Ceritficate when I applied last year, so we had not missing document.
Concerning the documents that they requested in March 2010, they emailed us asking me to submit them following documents as proof of my presence in Canada:

-Bank statements from Canadian bank accounts including daily activities
-Credit card statements including daily activities
-Insurance policies if available
-Pay stubs from employment
-Copy of lease or purchase contract for a place of residence in Canada
-Any other proof that you may deem pertinent

I sent all of above mentioned documents and in addition I sent my phone and internet bills.
We have not any lawyer and we've applied independently.
We sent them enquiry 4 times!(one through MP) and below is their new reply which I received yesterday:

Please be advised that your spouse's application is now in the queue for review by the responsible officer to determine that statutory requirements are meet. You or your spouse will be contacted directly when the application is finalized or if any additional information is required.

I don't know how long it takes to finalize and this drives me crazy! We have to wait, wait and wait.........

hello everyone,
i was reading on other thread and there are applications filed in Mississauga /canada 13/07/2010 and they are done fully done and PPR and visa is ready . I am so happy for everyone out there but still can not understand why our office is taking such long time to finish, and why cant we finish like any other office.


with a lawyer or consultant or on our own process is taking too longggggggggggggggggggg cant wait to finish this process. my ecas mostly changes if any on thursday midnight which i can not understand since our office is closed on thursday noon so does that mean someone is working overnight and if they are working why not finishing the file. excuse me friends I am so stressed since I cant see anycase from our thread moving even by one inch.
