Damaged passport: valid visa

Hi All,
My passport got recently damaged and it has valid work permit stamp on it(valid until 2020). As per law i can't travel with damaged passport and have to apply for new passport. So the question, do i need to go through visa stamping procedure on new passport as well or i should be fine if i will carry both passport with during travelling. Currently I am in India and planning to return ASAP. Visa stamp page is perfectly fine. Please guide me.

From Personal Experience: Able to enter in Canada using two passport where damaged has valid visa. Thanks @ newtoexpressentry for your comment.

Hi,

Carry both old and new passport. Valid visa in old passport is accepted if accompanied with new valid passport.

I had the same query and I emailed the Canadian high commission and this is what they replied -

"Dear Sir/Madam,

Thank you for your recent inquiry to the Migration Section of the High Commission of Canada in New Delhi.

If you have a valid visa for Canada in your full/expired passport, and you have been issued a new passport, you may continue to use the visa, but you will need to travel with both your new passport and the full/expired passport which contains the valid visa when you travel to Canada.

To avoid needing to travel with both your full/expired passport and your new passport, you may wish to have the visa in your full or expired passport cancelled and a replacement visa (with the same validity) placed in your new passport. For more information on how to obtain a replacement visa and the associated fee, please visit https://www.canada.ca/en/immigration-refugees-citizenship/services/application/application-forms-guides/guide-5545-application-verification-status-vos-replacement-immigration-document.html .

The forms and fees should be submitted to VFS.

My passport was damaged last year due to traveling usa coffe was fall down but my canada visa sticker is valid till october 2024. Then i make a new passport but on my new passport don’t have any visas. Plz suggest me can i travel from delhi to canada if i carry both passport

Hi, were you finally able to travel with a valid visa on old passport accompanied by a new one? I'm in the same situation now. Could you please share your experience. Any lead is appreciated.

Hi, could someone tell me, if I have a valid work permit with the number of damaged passport, and I carry both passports with me the new valid one and invalid while travelling back to Canada, in this situation can I enter Canada without facing any problem at POE?
