Globe and Mail is quoting a union representative, that diplomats are off work in London, Paris, Mexico City, Tel Aviv, Ramallah, Dublin, Hong Kong, the European Union, Beijing, Shanghai, Delhi and Chandigarh.

Fingers are crossed for you jcruicks! My wife and I submitted our application a few months after yours, so we're excited for you!

Let's all cross our fingers....

I read up on the strike and it shouldn't affect things too much. I still got notifications that my application was in process during that time.

Does anyone know the answer to this?
When my husband's passport gets stamped with a visa for permanent resident and I am flying him to Canada. Does he need a special visa to transit through Europe on his way to Canada?

According to my wife, your husband need a transit visa (depending on what country he is going through in Europe) if he intends to go out and explore. If he is only going through for a layover and he is not going to go outside the airport, he does not need a transit visa

Thanks! I don't think he wants to go out and explore. He will probably fly from Dakar to Paris, Paris to Toronto and then Toronto to Edmonton. He is going to get his new medical on Tuesday because the old one expired. Then I think he just has to send them his passport and that's it. I
I hope this strike bull sh it doesn't slow us down.

My wife heard from Dakar that they are currently working on applications received in June 2012 for family sponsorship.

We're unsure if she should be doing her medical and police applications soon because they expire in September and we don't want further delays if they ask for it. Has anyone else done theirs early? How did it go?

;D YAY!!!!! OUR APPLICATION WAS FINALIZED AND APPROVED TODAY AND IT TOOK ABOUT 14 MONTHS ALL IN ALL. WE ARE WAITING FOR THEM TO COURIER BACK HIS PASSPORT WITH HIS VISA! NOW I NEED HELP. DOES MY HUSBAND NEED A TRANSIT VISA OR ANYTHING IF I AM FLYING HIM IN VIA LONDON HEATHROW DIRECTLY TO EDMONTON? PLEASE ADVISE

Hi everyone, I'm just wondering if anybody knows the best way how to contact Dakar office, we applied inland my wife non accompanied kids visa office is Dakar , her kids done their medical since March 2013 and look like Dakar still haven't the results from Paris Medical center , we sent the proof of their medical done to Vegreville but now Cic Vegreville only waiting for Dakar confirmation to isuue my wife COPR , we emailed Dakar office to check the status 4 months ago no reply at all

That's fantastic news jcruicks!! Yay!!

I'd say call the British High Commission in Ottawa, they're best placed to answer if a transit visa is required although a look at http://www.ukba.homeoffice.gov.uk/visas-immigration/transitthroughtheuk/visa-transit-airside/ shows who needs a visa.

Hi !!

This is Mrs. JoeUH. I emailed Dakar last week and they replied today that they are working on applications received in August 2012. Though in another French forum, i saw a few applicants from September & October have been approved so i think they are working on August/ September/ October.

Also, i checked the Dakar Visa website and saw these notices:

Effective October 21st, 2013, the Dakar visa application center (VAC) moved to the following location :

My husband came to Canada on September 12th! Yay!
To the girl who is sponsoring her husband from Cameroon:
My husband ended up getting two medical exams
Because his first expired. You could proactively let one but I don't know if they want a brand new one for the final issuing. They are good for one year though. If you applies nov 2012 is expect you to hear back in the next couple of months. I applied for my husband June 2012 and he was issues visa like August 28 2013
And then he flew here sept 12 and is now sleeping in my bed as we speak. :)

Hi,
I have send my application since the 5th of january 2012, in may 2013 they ask me for some additional documents that i have provided them. Since then i have anything whatsoever. I read all sort of post that some of you have send your application way after me like 6 months after and you already received your visa for your partner. I don't understand why but mine is taking so long. And whenever i enquire about it i have the same answer : waiting to be revised. Can someone help me out with this. The waiting is annoying. In 2 months it will be tw years and for the life of me i can't understand why. Is there something that i should do.

Thanks.

14 months is pretty good @jcruicks! We will be submitting our application soon and the processing time is 23 months. :o What are people's experience with the Dakar office?

I checked this morning when I woke up, and ecas was updated! We are now in process! Originally it showed the application as being received on November 15, 2012, this morning it now shows that they've started working on it November 18, 2013, so a few days delay from when they started working on it and when they updated ecas. We're close! :)

SenoritaBella, our experiences have been that they take a few days to respond to emails, and they do update ecas, it just takes them awhile (as I've seen with our application).
