Dad landing in Canada in 1 wk....does he need proof of funds

I just want to verify something.

My Dad is landing in Canada in a week. I sponsored him under Parent and Grandparent category.
As per the information I've read before, he doesn't need to show any proof of funds upon entry to Canada.

Can anyone confirm if this is correct?
