Customs - money and border guard questions?

So, my Brazilian friend was lucky enough to be granted a visa after her second application.

First - for a 16 day visit, in which she will be staying at my parents' place, is there an approximate amount of Canadian currency she should bring with her in order to satisfy the customs agents that she's just here for a visit?

Second - she wanted me to research the typical questions that she may be asked upon entering the country. I'm assuming there's the basic "who are you staying with", "what is the purpose of your visit", the "are you bringing alcohol, weapons, other items of concern" type questions - is there anything else you would suggest she should be ready to answer?

My bf came with 2000 cad and was ok for 2 weeks. He was never asked for proof of funds.

He doesnt speak english so was brought to another area to speak with an officer but they asked what he did for work, who he was visiting and googled them, called me to validate his story, asked him about his personal history. He said they asked him the same thing 3 times in three different ways

Another friend of mine is saying that the questions will be in English - she is Brazilian too, and practiced answering in English - but the friend who is coming this time doesn't speak English. I would hope that she should be able to answer in Portuguese, but that's not what she has been led to believe.

Does anyone else have experience or knowledge indicating if it's possible that she may have to answer in English, even though she doesn't speak the language?

He simply stated he speaks spanish not english and they accomodated this for him
