Customs at first port of entry or last destination? URGENT

2. You will have to collect your baggage in Montreal to pass through customs and will then hand it back over to the airline for your Ottawa to Montreal flight.

My flight itinerary is
Beirut-Geneva-Montreal-Ottawa
I was told my bags would be collected at Beirut and I would not be able to collect them until I arrive in Ottawa.
How can I go through the customs at Montreal Airport then?
Please help.
I am traveling after just 2 days.

I think you probably would be going through the customs at Montreal Airport before you can collect your bags anyways. Once your plane arrive in Montreal airport, the air hostess would probably tell you how to go through the customs and collect your bags.

My Itinerary was from New Delhi - Frankfurt- Ottawa - Toronto few days back

I got my baggage at Ottawa ( as guided and advised by Immigration officer ) where in I completed my custom/immigration and landing formalities ( it took 1.5 hours , though my layover was around 2 hours only and I informed the same to immigration officer )

and at Ottawa I redo the check in of my baggage and finally at Toronto I just collected my baggage and simply exit the Airport
