current work permit

I may have read and understood this all wrong but here is my query...

I am due to be married in April to my Canadian fiancé and we then intend to send off everthing to mississauge. I got a BUNAC open work permit in June 2010, which ends June 2011. I worked for 3 months on it in Canada but had to return to England for University.
I have read somewhere about implied status and I’m unsure on what this means. I’ll be applying OUTLAND in april time and will be hopefully staying on a visitor visa in Canada for a while and returning to England and then back to Canada etc until my application is either accepted or denied. Hopefully accepted!!
So basically what I want to know is, can I apply to extend that open work permit I have, to work until my spousal application has been processed or is this just wishful thinking?

Sorry, just wishful thinking. Working holiday permits through BUNAC are not eligible for extensions.

Actually UK citizens can as of the 18th of January, apply for Non Student IEC visas (old Bunac) twice. Students can apply for IEC while a student and can get 2 non student work permits. Previous Bunacs prior to January /11 don't count in the total.

Yes but you don't necessarily have to do it through BUNAC. Read through the frequently asked questions link.

Thankyou for all your help. I've read up on it but I know with BUNAC you can't apply again if you have a canadan fiance or spouse as I do, therefore I was wondering if anyone knew if I would be allowed to apply for the IEC visa, while also applying for sponsorship?

I have applied for permanent residence status and I’m waiting for my file to be processed. Can I go to Canada in the meantime under the IEC initiative?

The IEC initiative is not designed to provide work permits to those waiting for permanent residence status. However, if you meet the eligibility criteria of the initiative, you are welcome to submit an application to participate.


the webite says this actually, but I find the way they word things sometimes a little confusing. It says its not designed for people waiting for permanent residence status, however you are welcome to submit an application. does this mean they will simply say no once submitted?
What if I applied for this as my current bunac visa runs out in June and then if i get on the IEC visa then apply for PR while on the IEC visa? does anybody think this would work,

I've read about many people that have applied for an International Experience permit while having a family class application in process.
