Hi everyone,

I desperately need some help. My current employer (in Singapore who I have been with for 2.5 years) is refusing to give me a detailed letter of reference (only a generic one).

I do have a detailed reference letter from my previous employer who is based in Sri Lanka and who I was with for 6 years.

They both fall in the same NOC and all my 8.5 years of experience is in the same NOC.

Reading through the forum, I see lots of rejections due to the failure to provide the detailed employer letter :( I am just wondering since I have one that states that I was engaged in the NOC for 6 years previously, if that would be sufficient.

And what documents can I show to prove my employment in Singapore?

Is it possible for me to change my profile now (after receiving ITA) to move my current employer to personal history so that I would not be required to submit any documents from them?

Thanks

You can use a letter from your prior employer but make sure to:

1. Move your current job into Personal History. You can do this as long as your points don't drop below your ITA score. If you have six years of history in the same NOC in the past 10 years with your prior employer, you will be fine.
2. You will need a newer letter from your prior employer. If you upload a 2-3 year old letter, it may cause issues - it's not technically mandatory, but it may raise questions with IRCC.

Thank you so much 21Goose.

Couple of follow up questions, how do I move my current employer to personal history? Does that mean I need to reject my current ITA? or am i able to do that without rejecting my current employer?

You just edit your profile. No need to reject the ITA unless moving the job reduces your points below the ITA score.
