Curiosity questions: If you contact IRCC for an update, will it effect badly to your application outcome?

Hello guys,
I heard some rumours that if you contact IRCC and inform them that your application processing time has passed their time limit, it usually effects negatively to your application outcome, in their thoughts you are kind of rushing them or showing too much desire to get to Canada. As many of you are very experienced can you please suggest me if it is correct or just a usual rumours?
thank you all in advance.

That’s just a rumour. When I worked in a Government call centre dealing with cases ( non IRCC ), everything had an estimated processing time . If a case exceeded the estimated processing time, one was able to escalate it . Example if a case was classified as being complete at 60 days and someone called in on the 59th day, we could not escalate it . If they called in on the 61st day we could escalate it .
