Is your offer LMO/LMIA approved?
If no, you will not receive 600 points for arranged employment.

Arranged Employment means a job offer supported by LMIA.
You should have a positive LMIA

what does supported by LMIA mean though.
since i am on a open work permit currently.
do they need to obtain an LMIA for me?

LMIA is Labour Market Impact Assessment given by Service Canada. Your current or future employer should make all efforts to hire a Canadian Citizen or Permanent Resident for the job position.
Efforts include
1. Adversting the job for at least 4 weeks.
2. Give the salary package & all benefits in the job posting
And some more - See the link below

http://www.esdc.gc.ca/eng/jobs/foreign_workers/higher_skilled/permanent/index.shtml

Incase your employer doesn't get any candidate then a LMIA has to be filed with Service Canada describing all the efforts he made to hire a Canadian or PR.
If Service Canada is satisfied, a +ve LMIA is issued.
With this postive LMIA & permanent job offer from your employer, you will get 600 points for arranged employment

Yes: you still need LIMA from your Employer.

go through .cic.gc.ca/english/work/employers/lmo-basics.asp

To be more accurate, they don't need to get an LMIA for you. If they do, or can, it will give you 600 more points and you'll be virtually assured of getting an invitation to apply. Without it, you'll have under 600 points, but if your points are high enough, you still have a chance. Right now, those with points of 453 or more have been invited, and everyone with fewer than 600 points applied without an LMIA.
