Hey guys! I wrote a post a week or two ago on pretty much the same thing, got all the answers I needed except one I meant to ask. I know what to bring and say at the border but my question is I'm sure they'll ask how long my husband is planning on staying in Canada and since he has no intention to leave and his permanent residence should be in within the next 4-6 months, assuming it takes 8-10 months for that, what do you say to them for how long you'll be saying? He doesn't have a returning flight as the border is about 30 minutes and we'll just be driving.

your husband can say he's just visiting for a few months.. 3-4 or so.. they'll surely stamp his passport for a 6 month entry.. he can request an extension afterwards if necessary.

What CutiePie92 said: he's just visiting.

Just bring along proof of ties to the US (lease/mortgage, paystubs, etc) and proof he has enough funds to cover him during his stay and you should be just fine.
