Crossing the border recently and completed 14-day Quarantine

Hari, I am already in quarantine right now came here on 29th. Yes doing all that stuff. Reporting through ArriveCan as well. Will be using AVR till i get my visa stamped. But travelling once a week is impossible right now. Ufff

Hey Swan, So based on what i understood you are in Canada and plan to return to the US shortly via AVR? Sorry if i am missing something.

Just trying to understand what your present situation is.

Yes it was just day trip. Mostly you would be asked to if you dont travel at least once a week.
I receive calls to make sure i am quarantine and being asked to report daily symptoms. Make sure you install arrivecan app ready on that travel day after you come back and enter information as its not allowing to input after 2 days.

Quarantine requirement which will be useful for you to plan: I need to be at home in my room without mask and can be in common room with mask(if others are living with us). Also i can go to front/back yard if its not shared by other house(or not living in an apartment complex). i cannot go out of house or for walk in public place for 14 days(Dec 4th to 18th).

Can we fill arrive can after we enter? Does cbsa ask our address when we enter back? Do they keep calling till 14th day?

Yes you can fill after you enter either arrivecan app or by phone (833 641 0343) every day.
Yes definitely you should have an address where you would stay for quarantine. You are supposed to have a quarantine plan which includes your address of stay, food delivery plan, etc. https://www.canada.ca/en/public-health/services/publications/diseases-conditions/2019-novel-coronavirus-information-sheet.html
They call but not sure number of times. Possibly it varies based on each case, based on how busy they are. I am yet to finish 14 days.

yesterday i got a call. i traveled on friday. i did not know or did not take it seriously on installing the app and was told not to go out and stuff(and also they asked me to wear mask if i am in the same room with others even if i watch tv 6 ft apart ).
Then i had to install but was not allowing to report daily updates as its past 3 days hence i was given the phone number to give daily updates.

. Actually its easy with the app. i do it daily. Last time when i have entered, also we used the app. Its pretty simple. I guess when you keep giving daily updates, we do not get calls. NOt 100% on this but that is how its going as of now.

I think that you are right. I did not update till sunday and i got a call on monday. Correct, that may be it.

We are planning to travel to Canada through Detroit - Windsor tunnel in my own car that I recently purchased on loan. Planning to do a soft-landing or
14-day quarantine, so my question is can I drive my car that is on a lien? Will it be allowed in case of a soft landing? Please let me know your thoughts.

Yes, for just landing(a temporary stay), you can use your own(financed/paid fully)/rental car.
You dont need to worry on importing till your permanent move.

The “ quarantine thing “, is really testing your patience ? Seriously? The Liberals totally screwed it up . There should be NO soft landings allowed what so ever during a pandemic. None . They made so many exemptions for foreigners to enter the country , then they wonder why the second wave has been such a disaster. But we can’t forget it’s testing individuals patience, those same people who aren’t even going to be staying in the country

From Nov 21( i think), they are asking everyone(including residents) to quarantine except the actual frequent commuters. So most are now covered.

Are you generalizing everyone that they are not going to stay in the country. Did you time travelled and saw who are staying and who are not staying. I meant testing patience coz, even if you traveled one day to US for work and coming back into the country there is a 14-day quarantine, in that aspect i had to say that. Not sure what is your situation but its a different scenario totally for every individual.

Whats your problem with the soft landings. This soft landing is nothing new as you already know, it has been there before the pandemic and they accepted few cases in the same criteria. It helped many people with kids to do soft landings and return.

If it wasn't for a pandemic, would you comment the same on soft landing or about people settling her.. These discussions wouldn't even come-up and you wouldn't even know whats going with an individual.

Did you commute to work again after you were asked to quarantine? If yes, did you fill the app this time or border official told you need to quarantine? This time when i have entered, i had already filled the App and cbsa official at border did not question me anything on Covid related stuff/talked about quarantine, but i had got calls already twice in 7days.
