Hello all!

Next week I'll be travelling with my husband back to Canada. Our outland application has been out since August 1st--have not heard back from CIC yet. I'm from the U.S. so normally we can get close to six months as visitors--I've visited before and stayed till so without a problem but now this will be my first time entering while married and with the PR application in process and we are getting really anxious and paranoid that they may deny me entry to Canada.

We are still uncertain about whether to enter by land (bus) or plane. I hope to stay in Canada with my love for the 6 months and if our PR application is not finalized by then apply for an extension. If they deny it for any reason of course I'd return, but ideally it would go through and we can remain together until everything finalizes. I don't have much ties to the U.S.-- I quit my job and I was living with my family during my return here so I have no leases. I also have not purchased a return flight since I may apply for an extension so my departure date would depend on that response. We have the receipt for the application fees. Im taking whats left in my bank account with me and my husband will print his bank statement to prove he can financially support me. He also brought the lease for our apartment in Montreal and receipts proving some of the comming months have been paid in advance (who knows if this means anything to them).

I'd like to hear what any of your experiences have been like crossing the border (please specify whether by plane or land [car or bus])?

Do any of you have any tips/advice to know before crossing under these circumstances?

You may not be questioned at all, but if you are it sounds like you are prepared to answer their concerns.

People routinely do this quite successfully and you're carrying almost everything I would recommend.

You should be close to getting the sponsor approval letter as well - if you do get it, print it and bring it, as that will further help. Only other thing I can suggest is to bring the "proof of delivery" for your application, assuming you have one (I sent mine via FedEx, so I had a nice signature page I could print out.)

Ah, I hope we can find the link with our tracking number but will look into that thanks! =)

Wouldn't explaining everything as I did raise red flags for them though--is there anything we should *not* say?

I really hope the agent is in a good mood that day....
