Thanks. Does Uber take people across border or it has to be a local taxi? Also what should be the destination for taxi for landing purposes? Should it be CBSA Canada or something else?
No idea. Talk to Uber or a taxi company.

They almost certainly won’t take you across, I don’t think. What I’d do is take greyhound, just book from wherever, USA to wherever, Canada. I believe they drop you off at the border office, you go through security, then another bus or the same bus picks you up on the other side.

Husband has done this a few times going down to the states.

I think it is unlikely that any taxi operator will take you across the border. coz even the driver will then need to carry his passport and do formalities since he will be crossing over. What most certainly will work out is that you ask taxi to drop you on last possible point they can freely access on the US side, probably just where the bridge starts, then you walk over with your luggage. Once you are on the Canadian side, you can take another taxi to get to the bus stop. Take a Go bus from there which will then connect you to another Go Bus or train around Hamilton. And then you can go to wherever you want.

In Dec 2017, I completed my trip from the US to Canada, without PR card, and just COPR and Passport. Also, as mentioned earlier in this thread, I did not have my own car. Here is my experience.
I was based in Pittsburg in the US. So, I flew to the nearest border town, i.e. Buffalo, from Buffalo airport there are multiple options. You can rent a car, take a greyhound to the border and then walk over as some members suggested, or there are tons of taxi services.
I opted for a Taxi service from Buffalo Airport to Downtown Toronto. The ride cost me $250 US, it was less than 3 hr long. At the Border I showed my passport and COPR, the oficial asked me where I would be living and how much cash I am carrying. That's it, less than a minute at the crossing, I did not even step out of the car. Thereafter, it was straight to Toronto.
I hope this information is useful to others in a similar situation.

DV

Guys here is what I'm thinking of doing, would love to hear your thoughts.

I would be flying to Buffalo New York and from the airport, I will rent a taxi that will take me to Niagara Falls, the Canada side. At the border, I will show my COPR and Passport and cross into Canada. What do you guys think?

I spoke to a taxi company and they do have service to Canada from Buffalo New York. This takes out the complication of me having to drive, or the luggage issue or even the weather (which is going to be brutal)
Hi! Im in same boat. Did renting a taxi worked?
