Hi
I am new to the forum. I am in very critical situation.
I have been in a relationship with a guy from India who first came to canada as a student but then got switched over to worker status once he graduated.
I am not familiar with Canadian immigration system very much as I was born and raised here but the questions I have are related to situation of my boyfriend.
Sometime this year his work permit had come to an end and he told me he was going to apply to 'restore' his status, whatever that means. I am expecting a baby with him due early next year and I happily offered to sponsor him to do his immigration. Actually I have been trying to convince him for so long to do but he didnt listen to me. He tells me he has to first restore my status otherwise its doing something illegal. I said fine as he sounds like he knows what he is talking about.
Now while he had submitted the application to restore, our relationship began to have a few turbulences. During this time, I began to doubt about his intentions as I started doing some research on my own about immigration where I found out that you can do spouse sponsorship without issues if you lost your status. He kept telling me something else and I was a fool to keep believing him. I didnt ask him anything about his application as I figured he'd get his new work permit soon and he's be back to having valid status in canada.
During this time he also got into a major car accident, using my car causing non fatal injuries to the other passenger. He has a court date booked next month.
He tells me he has to book his ticket to india in case his application gets rejected. Its a one way ticket. Since he doesnt have a credit card, he used mine, along for a lot of other things.
Well, just now I found out his application has been refused. I know this for a fact because he showed me the actual refusal letter.
He is actually planning to leave and tells me there is nothing he can do. I had suspicions for a while that his parents didnt like me and had been trying to convince him to do arrange marriage from india. I confronted him about it and he finally told me the truth that I am not good enough and he can have a better life in India. I am enraged. I am expecting a child with him. It sounds like he has just lost interest in living in canada and was just living with me together to enjoy his life for short time.
I am furious and I want to ask you guys here that once someone gets refusal letter, do they legit have to leave or is he just trying to fool me again??
Is there anyway he can stay?
Also its just very shocking to me how canadian government can just tell someone , who has built a life for so many years, to just leave. No date is given on the letter.
The guy wrecked my car, has a court date, owed me money on my credit card, I AM PREGNANT WITH HIS CHILD..how is it possible that canadian govt can just tell someone, who has been in country for 8 to 10 years, to leave without accounting for any factors or their life circumstances? What if he got cancer and was getting a cancer operated, would he still have to just leave? It sounds bizarre to me.
Please tell me this is not true. I am begging him to stay and that I will sponsor him but he said I cant as he has been told to leave.
What should I do ??
