My brother put in an application for this and the Buffalo office recieved it june 20th 2011. Theyve since closed and he has still heard nothing. Does anyone know how long it usually takes now that the office is closed? also does anyone know which office these would have been sent to? would and buffalo applications just been put on the bottom of the new offices pile or would his place in line have been kept? Thanks for any help!

Hi Your,

my boyfriend also applied for rehabilitation in June 2011 to Buffalo. Since their closure, his file was transferred to Washington DC. In January 2013, the file was transferred again to the LA visa office.

Did your brother apply himself or did he go through lawyers? I'm thinking he would need to contact Washington perhaps to see if they know where the application is presently.

he applied himself, how do you know where his file was transferred to? we contacted dc and ny and they wont/cant tell us anything, from reading online ive heard they were transferred fron buffalo to dc to nyc, we cant even get a confirmation that they still have it and it didn't get lost in the multiple moves!!

Sorry, I missed your response. I wish I could tell you something different. Our lawyers had contacted Washington, and the only time they responded was to say that the file was transferred to LA. I would suggest that your brother sends a request every once in a while with his file number until they answer. It kind of sucks that he doesn't even know where it is for sure.

My son in law had past DUIs and served time in jail for them. After 10 years all these charges were dismissed. He has government stamped letters from South .dakota stating they were dismissed. He is still not able to come to Canada. He had to go through the FBI and file a criminal rehabilitation demand. He went through all off that. He too was sent around the country, Detroit, LA and supposedly now in NY. After several tries to call or email NY I migrations we still have no response. Where could I call or who can I talk to to get some action here??? Lina

Your,

our lawyers had originally received an acknowlegement of receipt from Buffalo which contained his file number. If you are telling me that you never even got an AOR from Buffalo, I really don't know what to tell you. :( Because this is the number that they would use to locate the application.

Even to apply for CAIPS notes, you would need that number. Can you double check with your brother? Because 2.5 years is a long time to never have received anything

Lina,

I'm sorry to hear this. It's very frustrating with how long this process takes. Have you tried ordering your CAIPS notes? This will let you know if there was any movement on the application. As for calling anyone, I don't think you can. Are you certain that it is in NY? What is your timeline in terms of date you filed application and when it was transferred?

when he originally sent it in they sent a letter saying they needed one more thing from him. the # was probably on that letter which he didn't keep. I guess hes screwed until they eventually contact him, if they ever do. even with the closings and strikes almost 3 years is a bit much, but at least he knows others have been waiting a similar length of time. my fear is that the apps were kept in order of first come first serve, then when moved to dc were put at the bottom of their pile, then when moved again to wherever they are now were again put at the bottom of theirs!!! we could be talking another 3 years or longer!

Wow that is very disturbing... Maybe he can try sending a case specific enquiry with his full name and date of birth. This is the only thing I can think of other than the file#
