Rehab and PR took 20months or just the rehab application?

CIC rec'd application on 09APR2014 and we got COPR in hand on 23DEC2015....We had a TRP/Rehab that expired during the PR process...We just happen to have another Rehab application in New York when the PR Case Manager asked for another one...She just requested the Rehab Application from New York..So we did not provide a Rehab application with the PR application...our delay was that CIC Medical Case Manager could not open the medical file and thank goodness the Dr, the Dr office and CIC call centre worked with us to figure it all out...Our file also sat who knows where for 9 months...no one touched it other then me requesting case notes...hope this helps!

The Medical expiring was not a problem....the problem was that 2nd medical was requested in May and submitted....then they requested it again, 3rd time and the Dr office couldn't figure out what they wanted as there were no request in the medical file.....CIC did not respond for 3.5 months to us, the Dr office, the Doctor nor the CIC call centre, I emailed the MP and indicated that maybe it was time to go to the press...when they did respond the doctors office had to courier the info to Ottawa...that took a total of 8 days to get there register and reviewed...we would have been approved in Nov @ the interview but the file only said it was rec'd...

hello

I've been following this thread and I'm debating if I should go to Windsor tunnel for my TRP. I'm not that far from there but the NY consul has had my application since OCT 2015. BTW did I mess up by sending it to the Immigration consul instead of the VAC?

Just wanted to give an update....

We submitted my Criminal Rehab application on December 18, 2015 at the Detroit-Windsor Tunnel crossing. I received an e-mail on February 21, 2016 stating that my application was approved with a copy of the approval letter attached to the email. Then I received a hard copy of the letter on February 26, 2016 via snail mail.

We are super excited and will be submitting our application for PR sometime next week!

Thanks everyone for your help!

Congrats on your Rehabilitation approval...Can I ask you about how long it took in person to do this? Also, did you pay the fee online and provide a receipt or did you pay in person? Thanks! I am planning to go sometime this week.

well it took awhile to get all of the documents together, but once we were actually at the border crossing it took about 2 hours. It took about 8 weeks to get a response. I received an email and also a hard copy via "snail mail". We actually paid the fee online, but we were told at the border that we would have to pay there and then request a refund for the fee we paid online. So if you're planning on applying at the border, plan on paying there in person.

Sorry for the late response and I hope that this is helpful!! Good luck :)

Thank you so much! I'll report back on Monday with my experience.

For those of you that submitted your rehab applications at the border. Did you pay at the border or did you pay online and bring the receipt of payment to the border? Thanks

You will need to pay at the border.

I pre-paid online and brought my receipt with me when I applied and they made me pay again in person while I was there and then submit a request for a refund for the payment I made online.

Just went this morning to Windsor Tunnel. It's exactly like has been described. One thing to know is that you will need to pay $4.75 to cross the tunnel, no bit deal just a heads up. Current process time is about 14 weeks. The agents and supervisors were very nice and accomodative. They did say jokingly they wold have to start slowing down on their processing times to keep people from coming across the country like me. Hope this helps, good luck!

Glad the process has been sped up!!..the grief we went through all the time not knowing..And FYI the Peace Arch Crossing would not allow my husband to apply at the border and they are within their right to do that...Someone asked about applying at the border or the NY consul...we are a 4 hour drive from NYC and they made us go to LA from Virginia for an interview...I am happy for you guys getting your approvals!!!...we are going to be crossing April 30th...I can't wait!!!

Hi!

I am in a similar situation. It has been extremely stressful. My Boyfriend had two misdemeanor D.U.I's within a few months about 8 years ago now. We tried to have him come up for the first time in December, did not go so well...So now we are putting together an application for Criminal Rehabilitation and seeing that you can submit it to a Port of Entry is fantastic News. I live in Vancouver and he lives North of Seattle. I even called the CBSA office and she said all ports of entry should offer immigration services and accept the application if we go during business hours at a port of entry. However their website offices say differently and they have been recently updated. Has anyone had experience submitting an application on the West Coast? We are just waiting for his national FBI certificate and then to fill out a few things and the application is ready to go. I am extremely nervous as there is a lot riding on this. If anyone can offer tips or experience with submission of their applications it would be extremely helpful, thanks in advance!
