Hi all,

I came to Canada on study visa in Sep 2021. I got an extension until July 2024. I was involved in a incident at my home with my roommate. We got into a verbal fight which escalated when he pushed me. I lost control and my temper regretfully, I hit my roommate with a tumbler causing an injury to his teeth. Police was called and I was arrested after I and my family members pleaded guilty. I was charged with assault with weapon and a criminal case is going on. I hired a lawyer. I want to know about my future in Canada. I am resenting my mistake every minute. Is there any hope or redemption? Will I be eligible for PR in the near future considering my study permit is expiring. I have still some courses left and would need a new extension but when I will disclose about this case, I am afraid I may get a refusal.

Anyone who can be honest and please I am not doing well, I know I should have not hit the concerned person despite the provocation.

Thank you in advance!

You have good reason to be concerned. IRCC will not process your application with charges outstanding. If you end up with a conviction it will be a problem for your future in Canada. Make sure you are working with an excellent immigration and criminal lawyer.
