Hey guys,

Thanks in advance for your help. My application was received by CIC in the first week of Sept. I (unfortunately) submitted the payment form with credit card information instead of paying online. I just got contacted by my bank that my credit card has been compromised and they are going to block it. This means that CIC will not be able to process my application.

Can you kindly advise me what this will mean for my application?
- How can I contact CIC to talk to them about my situation (which number for CEC?)
- Is there any way that I can provide updated credit card number to them? If so, how?
- If they decide to return my application, do I have to re-fill everything? or they do consider this scenario and will expedite the AOR process?
- Whats the process when they return the application?

Appreciate any expert opinions on this one. I should have paid online but was provided with wrong advice to submit the credit card form instead.

Cheers! Any help will reduce the amount of coffee I'm drinking these days :)

- How can I contact CIC to talk to them about my situation (which number for CEC?) --- you can check cic.gc.ca for the customer care number
- Is there any way that I can provide updated credit card number to them? If so, how? -- I don't think you can. They will return your application stating that the payment was not processed.
- If they decide to return my application, do I have to re-fill everything? or they do consider this scenario and will expedite the AOR process? -- Yes, you have to re-fill again with the latest information. AORs are not expedited these days. It takes 60-65 days to process one AOR.
- Whats the process when they return the application? -- You have to reapply with latest details.

Appreciate any expert opinions on this one. I should have paid online but was provided with wrong advice to submit the credit card form instead.

Hi,
Your best way to save time is to submit another set for papers immediately, because your previous rejected application will come back after 2 months(approx) for submission.

It happened to me too: (waste of time and money )
1. I tried to call CIC customer care, but they don't have any information about Sydney, NS application unless your have your application number.
2. I sent few emails too cic sydney, NS they responded after my received my rejected application :(
3. I sent twice new credit card information with letter explaining my situation, nothing happened.

So buddy, if you know your application will be rejected for sure, then please send new application papers asap .
Thanks

Hi there. The exact same thing happened to me. Your application will be returned to you. Download the newest forms and start over. Your Language test certificate is fine and your PCC is o.k so long as it is not more than 3 months old by the time your new application is received at the Sidney office. Please know that when your application is returned prior to receiving the AOR that this simply means that no file was created for you....there is no record made of this returned file....this is not a rejection so please do not worry about that. You have simply lost a few months.

I had contacted CIC in Sidney and explained the situation with my Credit Card but by the the time they got to my email my application had already been returned. It's hit or miss as to how quickly they can add updated payment info to your file after things like this happen. In anycase, pay online this time and send out your new application package. Everything will be fine.

You can't. Without the AOR you don't have the chance to call them regarding your application and update information.

- Is there any way that I can provide updated credit card number to them? If so, how?

No, there isn't.

- If they decide to return my application, do I have to re-fill everything? or they do consider this scenario and will expedite the AOR process?

Probably not. You'll get your package back, get updated forms and apply again. Make sure your language test results and PCC are still valid. And there won't be an expedited processing for your AOR.

- Whats the process when they return the application?

They send it back to you. You update and complete it, and send it to CIC again.

Cheers. And don't drink too much coffee!! Not good for your heart :)

Pay online before submitting new application.

To everyone, just start paying online. It prevents issues like this from occurring.

Just to clarify....yes you can contact CIC in Sydney..and they do respond even if you don't have your AOR yet. You can email them. They were kind enough to email me back 3 times concerning my stolen credit card and said they would do their best to locate my file and attach my new payment to it. Unfortunately for me by the time this all happened my application had already been sent back. It's all just a matter of timing when these situations arise. Best bet is to just pay online and resend your application.

This is why it's just better to send a money order or bank draft.

That's why it's best to pay online, as you can be certain the payment has been successful by
the time you file your application.

Money order is easier in case of documents return. You just go to your bank branch and return money into your account. Not sure about fees paid online

You don't need to to anything if you paid online. You simply submit your application again, and print the receipt from the payment again.

Thank you everyone for the replies and information.

If I understand correctly, I will have to re-do all of the application forms and cannot use previously filled forms. My PCC would no longer be applicable as it was issued first week of July. I will have to get a new one?

I will still give CIC a call and see what they have to say about this situation. Miracles can happen :p

Yes, get new forms and fill them, so they have the current date on them. Also make sure you use the latest forms.
Send the old PCC with your application, but apply for a new one right away. When you get the AOR send the new and
updated PCC to CPP-O.
