Hi everyone,

Can anyone provide any estimated number of days when you have received your credit cards after you apply it on the banks of your choice?

Thanks
Mark

Does this apply to new landed immigrants ?

It applies assuming you are approved for credit. If not, you may have to get a secured credit card. This means they will expect you to put on locked deposit the amount of the credit card. The 7-10 days for getting the actual card will apply as this is typically the mailing time.

Got it.

I applied for a credit card with both TD and Scotiabank. Got the credit within a week with both. Scotia offered more credit though for newcomers with no income and credit history. :)

What's the limit Scotiabank offered? I got a 2000 dollar limit with RBC.

Thanks All! Yes, I am planning to sign up with both Scotiabank and TD

I don't have annual income currently, so they offered me $2000 credit limit. But i do know of someone who landed a couple of weeks back and got a $3000 with Scotiabank.

nice.. how many days passed before you get you credit card?

Note that in most cases, as a newcomer, you have to deposit a security, i.e. you will only get a certain credit limit if you deposit cash (in the thousands) into a special account until you have some credit history.

Hi spyfy - i beg to differ on this. I didn't have to deposit anything to get the $2000 credit limit. I didnt have a job oor credit history when i applied for a credit card. At Scotiabank, they said i couldve got higher credit limit if i had income but for $2000 credit limit i did not put in any security or deposit. I landed in October 2017.
