Hello,

We just received my husband's passport and CPR in the mail. We are very excited!!!
The documentation included says:

"Please check the visa(s) and CPR(s) to make sure that there are no errors. Your visa was issued on the basis of the information you have provided. If there are errors you must notify this office immediately. If any name or date of birth differs from the name or date of birth in a passport, or if the passport number or validity is incorrect, please notify use immediately so that we cna tell you which passport(s) and CPR(s) must be returned for correction."

A lot of the information on the CPR is code, numbers to denote a status, which I can't really check. However, the one thing I did notice is that it says GIVEN NAME: CHRISTOPHER JOH (15 characters including the space). This is my husband's first and middle name. However, his middle name seems to have exceeded the space provided, as the last letter of his middle name is missing, should be CHRISTOPHER JOHN. I assume it's a space issue and is OK, but I'm worried this may be considered an error or might affect how things appear on this permanent residency card and landing itself.

Anyone have any insight or guidance?

The VISA itself is correct and has the correct full name.

Also, if we do need this changed, they say to contac them immediately. We went through NYC. Anyone know of any way to get in contact, aside from email or fax? I know there is a form to fill out, but they say it will take 30 days for them to respond.

Could you check the instruction letter again? I guess it says that the full name may not appear on the COPR/ or Visa or PR card due to space constraint, but full name will appear accordingly in the CIC system. There should not be any problem. Just my opinion, I recall similar instruction from my COPR.

Thanks.

The letter didn't seem to say anything about the lenght of the name. The VISA is ok, it is the COPR that is showing 15 characters (including a space) and therefore dropping the last letter of his middle name. I guess we want to make sure it's correct in the system and just displayed on the COPR incomplete.

HELLO :) i also recieved my visa today :) and as what i've read it is stated there that they may not be able to state the word completely for there is only limited space on the CPR. in my case i have a very long name and they were only able to state my first name.. as long as there are no errors on your visa.. then you're fine :) i hope it helped take care and goodluck to us!:)

Their system is limited to 15 characters. This information is available on the website. There is no error on your document.

Maybe it's just better for you to contact your visa office about it? They will give you an answer to stop you worrying.

We called CIC and they confirmed 15 characters is the max and that we should worry. To be honest the agent we spoke to was pretty rude about it! But at least he confirmed it.
