We didn't get DM in Ecas but we did receive an email saying our application was almost complete and that we should send my husband's passport for issuance of a visa! I expect Ecas will reflect that in the next few days. We are April 2nd applicants, our application went through Ottawa. My husband is west african but lived in the US for 5 years. We put the application together without the help of a lawyer and are over the moon that it is coming to an end after only 7 months!
We currently live in Ottawa so are hoping for a quick turn around. Does anyone know the best place to flagpole once the visa is in the passport?

We were so so so overjoyed at this email. Hopefully others will get good news soon too!

Pretty much cannot believe I get to say this but my ECAS is now showing "Decision Made" ;D ;D ;D

UK applicant and no request for passport copies or extra photos so hopefully they're sending the COPR straight out. It's got a little over 2 weeks to get here so I don't have to enter under dual intent.

Congrats!

Not to crush your hopes but both times I have gotten DM (Decision Made) on ECAS I have recieved an e-mail (from London) asking for passport copies and extra photos a few days later, they need that information to complete your COPR before they mail it.

I got DM on ECAS 18th of October and an email asking for passport copies and extra photos on the 20th. They recieved our copies and photos the 26th and now I'm waiting for them to sent back the COPR.

Thanks, and yeah from what I've seen it seems to be pretty mixed whether folk get photo/passport request or just get the COPR issued straight away and there doesn't seem to be a lot of rhyme or reason to exactly who does or doesn't get additional requests.

Mostly it's just a relief knowing we're a big step closer towards actually landing as a PR and even if I do enter under dual intent I'm not going to be stuck unable to work for months on end in Canada.

Are people usually asked for this even if passport copy and photos were sent in with original app?

Not sure what the norm is, but this is my third time sending it ;)

1st time as part of the application
2nd time ECAS went from IP to DM and I got a request for passport copy and photos, but there was a mistake and my son was not added correctly by CIC and ECAS went from DM back to IP
3rd time when it went changed to DM (again) for both me and my son and I got a request for passport copy and photos

Everytime we have sent pictures and passport copies on their request.

We were asked to send a passport copy and new photos before they issued the COPR. Our application was processed in Ottawa, but we were instructed to send the passport copy and photos to the Vienna Embassy as it is the visa office for the Netherlands. We got the COPR within 1 week of mailing the info, or about 2 weeks from when we got the email from Ottawa asking us to send the info.

Long-time lurker who appreciated the information found on this forum. Recently received DM for my wife and two children (USA), so I wanted to share my information with everyone to help understand their timelines better.

Initial Application received Feb 10, 2015 (everything upfront)
Sponsorship approved around Mayish 2015.
IP on August 8, 2015
Request for Docs around mid-September 2015, sent via email + fax.
DM on October 28, 2015

Good luck for everyone. The whole process of not knowing is so tough on a family, so my heart goes out to everyone. Stay patient and hope for the best.

Hooray!! So happy for you, Edin!

Looked in ECAS, got that 4th line item stating they sent me communication for additional documents, so I am assuming finally someone looked at the file and I shouldn't have too much longer in the process, anyone else received this 4th line item in their ECAS? :o

Congrats to all the new DM's this week. It looks like the batch for Aug is now starting to move. Hoping more is around the corner.

Officially got DM in Ecas today! Passport was sent yesterday, hoping to get it back next week and then... it's off to flagpole!

Congratulations! Hoping we're next :D

Received an email today from CIC requesting Common-Law Declaration document in order to continue with our file. I have been stumped on what to do. I already emailed them and called our MP for more information, I was well aware when we submitted our App that it wasn't needed unless we had a Co-Signer. Also if it WAS in fact needed, wouldn't they have requested it during the Sponsorship portion of our App?

Since I'm still in the mid USA it would be very difficult to fly up to Canada to have a document we didn't need notarized, and then have to leave my fiance again. I'm hoping I hear something within the next week back from CIC or the MP and I'm hoping they say it was a mistake..If we do need it of course I'll be on the next plane up there.

I have a question, and I have a thread and figured I'd ask here too. If I go up there to get the document done, could I just stay there for the rest of the process? Only problem is don't I have to declare all of my things I bring to Canada when I land for COPR? If I brought it to Canada during the document visit and stayed I would have nothing to land with, would that cause problems? Thank you guys for any help, this sucks.

Even though it doesn't say that you need it in the instructions, I submitted it upfront anyway on advice from this forum. They have been asking nearly everyone for the document. I figured I'd give them as much proof as I could that we are common-law. As for not having things with you when you land, that's not an issue. Lots of us 'moved' to Canada well before we landed and brought things with us already. I've been 'living' in Canada since December 2013 and the only thing I'm landing with is my car. My advice to you is to go ahead and just 'move' here if you are able financially. It seems like you are very close to the end of the process and it would probably be nice to reunite with your spouse, eh? Good luck!
