We got our gcms notes yesterday and it's as we suspected, the only problem is our class of sponsorship (conjugal). I am so mad at my immigration 'consultant' for counselling us to apply that way. Our solution at this point is to get married and convert the application to a marriage one. Hopefully the officer will see it and just continue processing (that's what the operations manual says they're supposed to do), but with our luck, it'll get flagged again.

Yes, indeed. Conjugal is a very problematic category and the rejection rate is rather high. If they don't convert, you have the option of appealing to the IAD - that's a de novo hearing anyway, and they would take a change of status (e.g., married versus conjugal). So it's just a matter of time.

Hi all,

We sent in the documents requested a few days ago. All they asked for was a copy of the custody paperwork. Normally does that mean everything else was ok? I'm concerned because I was afraid that my hubby's FBI clearance had expired by the time the application was received the second time. (done in June) They sent the first package (sent in August) back in October because we were missing a document .We have already requested another copy of the FBI records to be on the safe side. Also their medicals have now expired. (done end of May 2013). I just wondered if anyone had ever been asked for documents on more than one occasion.

I submited a 2nd FBI clearance because the original FBI clearance had expired when we applied. I sent it anyway with a note saying an updated clearance was to follow and CIC seemed ok with that. Your medical will most likely be extended for a year, as mine was. Don't worry, if they need anything else they will let you know.

Hi Chala,

There's still no news for you?

Thanks Chala, I am driving myself crazy anticipating the worst. I will send it in when it arrives just to be on the safe side. Glad to know that they can extend the medical for a year. That is a bit of a relief! With three medicals it was almost $1500 the first time around.

Apparently CIC updated ecas files over the past weekend, so if maybe a few out there may have gotten some good news updates. Check it out.

This is true! Since the very first time I logged into my eCas back in September it always said "app and meds received" I log in like daily.... So I logged in Sunday evening and it changed!!!!! App started processing on June 4th and a Decision Made!!!! Who would have thought on a weekend?? But woohoo! Keeping my fingers crossed for everyone!

It's clear that e-CAS updates are not done directly by the visa officer. Thus, what is more likely is that they have some sort of background process that notes updates in the main CIC database and then reflects those in the e-CAS database several days later.

Thus, it makes sense that you would see updates "off hours" because it is better to run those things on evenings and weekends when the databases are quiescent. In fact, I'd be surprised if you ever saw an update that WASN'T over a weekend or overnight.

Why can't you just say congrats!? I'm sure most people are aware that the systems update everything collectively and not officers....... But I have seen updates during "normal business hours".

We got our COPR in the mail Jun 5th!! :)

Hi All,

I hope you guys can help me. I applied for my husband out-land and received PPR email three weeks ago. As me and my husband (on temp. visa) are living in Toronto, our Lawyer asked Ankara embassy to send our file to Ottawa. Then on June 2nd, we got an email from Ottawa asking for passport. We send it on that day and we know that they received it one day after. However since then we have not seen anything. we emailed them but no answer. I was wondering if any one of you has send passports to Ottawa before and would know how long would take for them return your passport. For Ankara embassy is usually one week but one week has already passed and we don't see any update don out Xpresspost tracking #..

Please help me if you have any info.

Thanx
