Yay! Getting excited as things are moving along in Oct. Does anyone know what date it's based more on? I sent it Oct 18, my AOR was Nov 15 but my SA was Dec 4. So wondering if I should be going by AOR date or SA date.

Squishy Penguin,

Not sure what you should be going on. I submitted my app 2 days before you, but the SA came 11/6/13, about a month before you. I just got my PPR three days ago, on 4/17/14.

I don't know about anyone else, but I'm having a really hard time adjusting to trying to write dates in the day-month-year format.

I'm fairly sure it goes by SA not AOR but I'm not 100% sure, lol.

Hello CPP Ottawa Family!

I have been reading the posts here for some time now, and admit it is very informative.
On April 16th I received RPRF, CSQ and residency proof from CIC. My ecas has never changed from application received, although the email received mentioned that they are processing my application. Also there was no PPR in the email, which I thought they request together with RPRF. What do you guys read into this? is this usual? thanks in advance for all inputs :) :D ;D

Timeline

App recd 10/10/14
Med recd 08/01/14
RPRF+docs 4/16/14

Hello Everyone,
I recently joined the forum, however I applied for spousal outland residency (from U.S.) in October of 2013. I have a few questions and I'd really appreciate it if anyone can answer them. Thanks in advance. CIC Mississauga received my application on October 21, 2013 (sent them police clearance records, medicals, and etc.). My husband's eligibility was approved in November and my application was forwarded to Ottawa. After the first e-mail we received which stated that he was approved, we never heard back from them. Is this normal? Since then, my application status was "application received" and I checked this morning and now it also states that medical received. What does this mean? Also, what is the next step in the process? Should I be worried, or is it just typical for Ottawa to not update information online? My husband and I would just like to start our lives, and this whole process is just to tedious and slow. Thank in advance.

From what I've read, this is all completely normal. Most information suggests you will not hear anything until they request an interview (apparently very rare for US applicants) or your passport to start the final process. In the tracking spreadsheets, it's been noted US applications take about 8-10 months to complete, so it sounds like you are almost there! I would think since your information was changed, it sounds like you are moving along. CIC does not have a great reputation for updating information online as quickly as we would like. Stay strong... you are almost there!!!

Thank you! I hope it's a little less than 8 months (they're website says 15 months). Typically How long after they request for our passport do you receive your permanent residency?

i couldn't answer that question. my suggestion is to go through the threads and find people who have landed/are getting their passport request. remember that every visa office is different, and every application is unique. definitely check out the spreadsheets that have been tracking progress. perhaps finding the one for your month or around the same time will give you a clearer picture.

i wouldn't count on it being less than 8 months. it's definitely hasn't been 15 as suggested online. again, the spreadsheets will give you better insight!

this thread may prove useful:

15 months is the time to complete 80% of applications.

The best place for this data remains the open data project: data.gc.ca

The most frequently downloaded data set (by far) is the CIC data set. It shows (per visa office) the time to process 20, 30, 50, 70 and 80% of applications.

can you explain why we wouldn't be following the statistics for 80% of applicants? Isn't that technically a majority of the applications that are processed? I am confused about how to read the difference.

TIA!

It is worded very awkwardly, but it means that if, for example, 100 people applied in the time frame they took the data from, 80 of those 100 were completed within 15 months. So it's not that it takes 80% of cases 15 months, but rather that 80% of applications received in a certain time period were completed in 15 months.
There's an immigration dataset that breaks down each VO at http://data.gc.ca/data/en/dataset/427337d0-7c36-4fed-8428-c6a63f8c19b3. That gives you a better idea of how long it takes on average. I think for Ottawa, 50% of applications are finished within 9 months.

I would not worry. I also applied in October, and submitted everything up front - all the fees, the medical, the police certificate. The app was received on 10/23/13, sponsorship approval was dated November 6, and then . . . months of nothing. Just received passport request on 4/17. On the website my status is still "Application received."
