I haven't ordered any GCMS notes. The immigration law firm doesn't recommend ordering the note. They think it may cause suspension. I personally don't believe it's true, but I don't want to do things around the people we hired. So........ I'm suffering from knowing nothing.
No, notes don't hurt your application unless it's the paper notes where they have to get your physical file. If it's electronic it's good. But I understand where you're coming from.

I swear I've seen people who were in LA but didn't do an interview

How confusing
Applications can be transferred for any reason. For example, my application was transferred to LA after it had been approved by CPP-O. All LA had to do was the PPR and issue the COPR (which they did and which was all done within a month of CPP-O approving the application).

Well that's a relief.... Sometimes I'd really like to understand this process in and out, and the reasons why they do what they do. Maybe Ottawa had run out of COPR paper lol :D

Hello!

I received an e-mail from Ottawa, here is an excerpt:

This is in reference to your application for permanent residence in Canada as a member of the family class. We have now completed the initial assessment of your application, and expect to finalize your application without a personal interview. While an interview does not appear necessary at this time, we reserve the right to call you to an interview, should this become necessary at some future stage in processing.

PLEASE READ CAREFULLY ALL OF THE FOLLOWING INFORMATION BEFORE PROCEEDING FURTHER. YOUR APPLICATION WILL BE FINALIZED BY THE CASE PROCESSING CENTRE – OTTAWA (“CPC-O”).

In order to continue processing your application, the following is required:

- Copy or scanned image of your valid passport.

Please also provide/confirm your current mailing address.

So I sent in a copy of my passport as well as a confirmation of my address. I've been following this forum since I started my application and I just wanted to clarify: Does this mean they waived my interview? Is this what everyone keeps referring to as a PPR (Passport Request)?

Thank you!

Awesome!

I wanted to post my timeline for everyone then. I know how much I appreciated keeping track of everyone elses:

Application Recieved: September 25th, 2013
Medicals Done: August 28th, 2013
Sponsor Approved: October 8th, 2013
PPR Request: April 10th, 2014

My ECAS still only shows "Application received"... I know others have had issues with that. Feel free to add me to the spreadsheet as well! ;D

I had noticed before you and I have the same date. I think we have very similar situations as well. I'm in the US, and my wife is in Canada. I thought you would appreciate the update because you have to be right there in line with me!

To answer your question, I'll copy and paste another excerpt from my PPR email:

The requested information/documents must be received in our office within 60 days from the date of this letter. Failure to do so could result in the refusal of your application.

I couldn't found how long a normal request for a name change on a U.S. Passport takes but an expedited passport seems to be as follows:

Generally, you will receive your passport in three weeks, or sooner, if you can show an urgent need. Expedited service will cost an additional $60, plus any delivery costs.

Hopefully this helps you decide what to do!

;D

Hmmm thanks for the info! I should probably just bite the bullet and send my passport to be changed... I'm so nervous to mail it somewhere and be in Canada without it!!!

I'm the same as CG. My husband's file was sent to LA for no apparent reason. At first I figured it was where he lived (TN) but it seems to be random. Maybe ever 100th file goes to LA? who knows!

Hi,

Question to seniors - I applied for my husband who lives in Lebanon in March 2013 and got sponsorship approval on March 14th, 2013.

First the visa office was CPP-Ottawa until Sept 2013 where my file was transferred to Beirut for further processing.

I have ordered GCMS notes 3 times and my ecas is in process as of Feb 20th 2014. In the last set of notes I got the eligibility assessment is passed but criminality is not started. Security status is just blank.

His medicals expire on May9, 2014. There are several notes confirming that marriage is genuine and that the VO is satisfied with bonafides and relationship. Also they mention criminality and write Lebanese Police Clearance on file (issued date). In the most recent note it says PC (police clearance?) valid. Also it says file is ready for findec.

My questions are:

Would my husband have to redo his medicals - they expire next month?

Do you think that the interview is waived?

How much longer would this take? As current processing times for Beirut is 23 months :( - when we applied it was 17 and 19 months?

there is a recent thread posted about CIC being able to extend medicals. The VO will have to request it being extended, and that information is added to the file. If not, it may be a good idea to wait until an updated one is requested by CIC.
