Is that all they are asking for your Passport and mailing confirmation? That is your ppr/ it can be anywhere from a couple weeks to a couple of months. Wish I could give you a definitive answer but there isn't one.

On that subject, isn't there a way to send the passport/copy of passport with some sort of special delivery envelope/postage? Thought I had read that...

Hey all

Just wanted to let you know that I landed on Friday! Actually, on Friday morning I went and got health insurance from a Service Ontario center, and then that night crossed into Buffalo and landed at Rainbow Bridge, in Niagara. The whole process at landing took 5 minutes, I was asked two questions, signed my paperwork and I went on my way.
This morning I went to a Service Canada center and got my SIN. That process also took about 5 minutes.

Good luck to all those who are waiting, I promise, once you get those landing papers, everything goes by super fast!

You could probably send a prepaid envelope with your passport copies, but there's a possibility it would slow the process down because the physical copies of the passport would have to be sorted through CIC's mailroom to be forwarded to your visa officer. Digital delivery of your passport copies by email to CIC seems to yield much faster processing in most cases.

Thanks for the info, Ivan-

hope that too

So, I get home from work, look at the pile of mail under the mail slot in the door, and there's an ugly grey 8-1/2" x 11" envelope that says "do not bend" on it (bent in half, of course). And I think to myself: "Wahoo! It finally came!"

But no, it was an ad for life insurance from AAA. >:(

Regardless, my wife and I are heading up to Montreal in two weeks to hunt for an apartment (for a July move). Thankfully the family is visa exempt so if we need to they can wait for their COPRs in Montreal with me if the COPRs don't arrive before then.
