So what comes next after sponsor approval? (besides hurry up and wait!!) We received SA a little over a month ago. Am I supposed to get an AOR email from Ottawa?
Now that sponsor approval is done, do I still check my application status at ECAS using "sponsorship"?

Possibly AOR from Ottawa, but most likely passport request (PPR) or PPR with additional documentation requests. And yes, you still check ECAS the same way, though ECAS probably won't change before the PPR email.

Ottawa does not usually send an AOR when they receive your file from CPC-M. Consider your SA as your AOR (although technically it isn't). Next...

1) Documents request, if additional information is needed, via email if one was provided with your application, otherwise via snail mail.
2) Medical request if yours are about to expire. Requested via email if one was provided with your application, otherwise via snail mail. Sometimes a phone call in addition to email/mail.
3) Passport Request (some don't even get it when visa-exempt), via email if one was provided with your application, otherwise via snail mail.
4) Confirmation Of Permanent Residency (via snail mail only)

You may get 1, 2 and 3, together or separate, depending on how the progress of your case file goes. Or you may get 4 never getting any of the others... again, depending on your case. Item 4 will always be by itself.

Ecas will change when your file starts being processed and then again when the decision is made. However, updates on Ecas are not made in real time and it is very possible that there will be a delay.

Applicants often receive their UCI once they get their first communication from Ottawa, usually a request (additional docs, PPR, meds, etc). You will need the applicant's UCI to check their application status using their personal info (name, date of birth, citizenship).

Timeframe is anybody's guess, it all depends on the particulars of your case. 3 to 8 months after SA is the average I have seen to complete many cases - again, depending on how complex or simple it is.

Thanks for the comforting info.
So if my case is straight forward and no additional docs or med updates is necessary, I could have no emails until COPR? (I am under the impression I don't have to send my passport if I'm a US citizen)

It's possible, though most people still get PPR. Only a handful of people have received COPR without getting a PPR.

We received an email this afternoon from CPP-O. The applicant's visa for PR is ready for issuance pending the reception of the passport.

Thank you all for your support and understanding.

Good luck to you.

You have been updated! :)

Mammee also posted in another thread that her husband has landed, so she is updated as well.

As a US citizen, PPR will consist of a request for passport ID page copies, which can be scanned and emailed to Ottawa.

Though sometimes they do ask for the passport. They seem to be starting to ask more and more for the pages, just letting ya know that they do sometimes ask for the actual passport still.

Little update here! Our ecas has flipped to Decision Made this morning. It skipped the "in process" step. I guess we can now start obsessively checking the mail?

Hello everybody!
I landed yesterday woot woot!
The landing process was super quick. They didn't bother to check my truck either, yay.
Thank you all and the worst of this process is over for me. Soooo ready to start my life.

Grats, guys! So happy to hear that some are or will be reunited with their loved ones soon! And it's nice to see some activity starting again.

Congrats to every one who has had news, or has landed!
Today is our two year wedding anniversary, and I'm getting excited seeing everyone's movement!

Hi everyone,

My husband landed on April 14th and everything went well. We still need to import his truck. Should he wait to get an Ontario driver's licence until after he imports the truck or does it matter? Will it look funny if he goes picks up his truck, who still has U.S. plates, but he has an Ontario driver's licence? Also, does anyone know if they take the old licence when he gets his Ontario driver's licence? He has an enhanced US driver's licence and would like to keep it as there is other information on the card.... tks for all your help.

If he gets his Ontario DL before importing, he cannot drive the car. So I would wait until you import the car.

Is this really true? This seems like a strange regulation that would make it difficult to get rental cars or borrow a family or friend's car. Or does it only apply to cars you own?
