Sometimes the call volume thing happens to me too, I just keep trying at less busy times (early in the morning usually) and I can manage to get through. Yes, after French you will press 1 four times and then you will be transferred.

Yup, it was 71 when I landed. The agent told me that the new timeline of 80-whatever days applies to everyone still waiting regardless of when you landed :( But I'm at 100 days now sooo it's kinda crap. The processing time is so useless because even though I'm outside of the processing time, calling them isn't making them pick mine out of the pile, they just keep telling me to wait and someday eventually they'll get to it... -_- What's the point then?!
Out of the blue I tried and am currently on hold!! Miracles do happen lol

Question on the PR card..... Obviously it is nice to get and sort of marks the end of a very long process but is it really needed to do things like: work, live, get a SIN, etc.? In other words, once I get DM and land (fingers crossed!), I am a permanent resident and can do all of things permanent residents can do? And then 80-90-100+ days later, I'll finally get a card. Thanks!

Yes, you're right. It's not really necessary. But I want to travel across the border at some point and get nervous bringing my COPR with me, I'd like to just have the card and file the COPR away safely. Without the PR card I'm already working (so I have a valid SIN), settled in my new place, have an Ontario health card, driver's license, etc.

Panamai - Thanks! If you don't mind sharing, how many document requests did you get and what kind of info did they ask for? Just curious...
Oh, actually, looking back in my emails, the first doc request was August 19th. That one was asking me to let them know if our family situation had changed, to send proof of residence for my sponsor (a Canadian citizen who has never lived outside of Canada, lol), and also to send the medicals if I had not already. I think it was the day after that request that my ecas changed to "In process." The next one was September 8, asking for the police certificate (which I'd already sent in April). On October 21, I received instructions for the medical exam for each of my kids (non-accompanying dependents), which freaked me out because I did them both upfront. After a couple of frantic emails back and forth and some blatant misinformation from a call centre agent, I finally established that they didn't happen to look hard enough for the medicals previously and once I explained that they were done in a different location than mine, they were miraculously found! lol So..a bit less than 3 months after the first doc request (total of 3). I think it might have gone faster if they had found the kids' medicals sooner.

That's ridiculous! Ugh! It was at 52 days when I landed on Nov 23rd. :( So, by that call centre agent's logic, the time is just going to continue increasing and we'll never have our PR cards? :p Nothing CIC does ever makes any sense!

It took my spouse roughly 121 days to get his PR card, due to a computer screw up. They didn't record the date he landed and we had to send them the stamp on his passport.

So we did that right away, a month later we get an almost identical letter asking for the same information, apparently they didn't get the first fax. So we sent it again via fax and snail mail, and finally a month later the card arrived :p

It really doesn't make sense. This is how it goes:

CIC: We can't help you if you're still within the processing time.
Me: I am OUT of the processing time.
CIC: *Looks up file* Okay, well there's some delays. You'll get it by [arbitrary date which changes every time I call].

So if you're within the processing time, they can't help, and if you're out, they still can't help. LOL thanks CIC. I would love to be a call centre agent where you get paid for providing no information and help whatsoever, lol.

Hoping someone can shed some light on this....

Our app was meant to be processed in London but was sent to Ottawa after SA. We received DM on December 17 and also had the request for passport pictures and copies to be sent to the London offices. We sent them Dec 18. To date we have not heard anything back from them or seen COPR. I know that with Christmas we probably lost a few days there but I am wondering if this time line seems a bit too long or am I freaking out for no reason?

That is what I am wondering also. Trying to find out the average time line after SA for Ottawa/US applicants.

https://docs.google.com/spreadsheets/d/18NpCwiqXpOUdH3hN-f4J2gJ7T_-B97WoK3vlQMNKjAM/edit#gid=0 is the Ottawa spreadsheet but it hasn't been updated in months.

I think more people used the 2015 outland spreadsheet:

https://docs.google.com/spreadsheets/d/1FAYZyQgud1lzp7fM28i2O8ZrfbMAxdTc_t7_fiwI6ak/edit#gid=658388151

In other news... has CPP-Ottawa been extremely quiet lately? I don't think we've seen many people claiming updates since early December. I'm beginning to think they completely shut down for several weeks around Christmas and aren't even re-opened yet...

Hello everyone,

What's been the average timeline after the file has been transferred to the OTTAWA office to get the DM status?

Any approximation will be appreciated!

Thanks.

I hadn't even considered the implications for travel.... Thanks... After some very basic research it seems that Americans coming back into Canada from the US by car is easy (with COPR but not PR card) but seems there is a risk by air that the airline won't let you board with a COPR only...

Anyone else in Ottawa VO get two addresses on their ECAS? I used to only have one address for a long time, and when I checked Ecas today it was two addresses. Mailing and home. I can't remember which one was on there before. Nothing else has changed, though. Still in process, still has four lines with fourth line asking me for my additional documents which I've already sent a long time ago.

I'm outland USA if that helps. Does anyone think it means anything?

Yes, mine showed a second address several months ago around when I got the generic email info request.

In other news, I called my local MP's office and they claimed that Ottawa might be in a slowdown due to Syrian Refugee application overflow from other offices, and that US applicants may be waiting another several months at minimum. Isn't that grand? It explains why Ottawa updates in this thread have been so sparse since mid-December.
