Hi Everyone! Just to let you know: you guys keep me going as I wait!!

My Family class (Spouse) application is in Ottawa (received August 26, transferred to Ottawa on 16 September). I am renewing my US passport tomorrow and I'm wonder if I should forward copies of my new passport ahead of the passport request or wait at this point?

Here's hoping all the July-August-September folks start seeing those requests come in!

I renewed my US passport this December to reflect my name change to his. We applied in July, I would suggest you forward a copy of the main photo page. They still asked for a PPR, but it came sooner than a lot of other applications so maybe it is because they had to open up our application to change my name, or it just brought it to their attention a little more? I think our case is pretty straight forward, we have a lot of pictures, letters and visits, so maybe that's why we got PPR now. I am not sure, but I certainly don't regret submitting it before they requested! Don't wait, especially since it is such a simple email to send!

You need to let the visa office know as soon as anything changes relative to your application (e.g., your passport number) so send them a case specific enquiry or e-mail with your updated bio page as soon as you have the new passport number.

We just got passport request from Ottawa today!

We applied in July 2013 too so maybe they will be getting your PPR to you soon? We were a tiny bit nervous because they sent us something about it being moved to Los Angeles, but thankfully that's not the case! Looks like we also have our interview waived as well. So nice now to hear something after so many months of nothing. Can't wait to see "Decision Made" here next hopefully!

Here is the message I got from them in case anyone is curious:

PPR to COPR ranges from 1-3 months.

It's been 4 months now since we had PPR and nothing has happened. Ecas still shows "application received". So it may take more than 3 months without any apparent reason, and even much longer.

Wow, thanks guys. Seems like they are taking longer than the 4-6months that it was. Do they notify you when they issue COPR. I'm assuming these timelines are when they are delivered to mailing address.

We got decision made on ECAS just a few days before receiving it in the mail the following week. It seems there isn't a consistent way to expect these things to go, it seems random. There are human beings working these things at the other end, and they don't all do things exactly the same consistent way it seems.

Does anyone understand exactly what happens between Ottawa receiving PPR and COPR being sent that would ever cause a four month delay? If a decision is made before PPR, then what is the hold up? (sorry to ask questions you've likely answered before!)

Is it the principal applicant or the sponsor who receives passport request? Is it via email or snail mail? I ask because I'm sponsoring my US wife and I'm planning on visiting her there for 4 months and there's a chance we might receive PPR and COPR during that period.

I got PPR by email ...I'm the principal applicant the sponsor only received approval for sponsorship, the rest goes to the PA.

I see two different inputs about the Application Status update in the CIC website. Per their website, CIC officials update it on every tuesday. Per the cases reported here, they have seen their status changes happening on Friday midnight. May i know the exact day (mon/ tue/ wed/ thur/ fri/ sat/ sun), the status update happens in the website ? Also, if it happens on Friday midnight, are the officials working until midnight to get our cases processed as soon as possible ? or it is some batch running at midnight ?

Right now, I am checking the website 2 times on a daily basis. Want to cut down this exercise based on your inputs. Please let me know.

Our status changed from "in process" to "decision made" on a Friday, but I realize that the website says things are updated on Tuesday....so it seems they cannot follow their own instructions (j/k maybe they mostly update on Tuesdays, except when they don't ;D )
