No kidding! I am trying to limit myself to just once a day MAX and no checking on weekends. But it is tough!
I managed to only check it once a week without going insane. I only checked Mondays and I didn't download the tracker.

If only I had this much self control when it came to cookies!

So - looking for opinions, advice, etc about my job search. (I am NOT trying to rub it in! I really want advice!)

Would you rather take the job with:

- Established Canadian company, it has growth potential, but mostly outside Canada (they will build more stores as population grows type deal). Higher starting position, higher pay as well. Will require a car, but will pay enough for a car. Pay will be on par with my husband so I can giggle evilly at him. I'm not as sure about their policy about external hires for higher level positions. Also, is ranked in top 20 of all Canadian employers of ALL company types.

- New (as in last few years) to Canada. American company. Plans to open at least 3 new stores in the next two years in your city alone (slight worry about oversaturation). Lower starting position, lower pay. Will have to take transit - won't be able to afford car with lower salary. Very strict about promoting from within - the level I would be hired at is the highest level of external hire. It's two "pegs" below the other option. Also, can wear street clothes to work...... :D (lower initial investment, woo hoo?)

Both come with a nifty nametag! Both seem to have friendly management and a nice place to work.

Of course, I actually have to be offered a job first......................

Oh I hear you on this! I have been doing the same thing... I've been keeping busy by cleaning/organizing/cooking and spending LOTS of time with friends (they can always count on me to be a lunch date). I finally decided to go to the states to spend some time with family (since my COPR is being mailed here and I plan to land when I go back) I cannot wait to join the working world again!! I am afraid to start applying/looking for jobs since I have no solid confirmation of any timeline however :-[
Same here. I go through spurts where I get super bored and frustrated and then a few weeks when I'm like "meh" nothing I can do about it. Luckily right now I'm in the latter stage. I am, however, heading back to the States Monday to start working again. We've waited as long as we can and now I really need to start working again so we can have double income again. I hate not having a set timeline either, especially because I am a preschool teacher so it's hard to start somewhere and potentially have to leave again a couple months later. I don't know...my SIL said hopefully COPR will show up in the mail as I'm boarding so we will have a movie scene and my husband will be running after me and I'll have to be like "stop the plane!" LOL :p I highly doubt the chances of that happening though. ;)

Better off starting at higher salary. Next job, they'll ask "what was your previous salary." You want to start higher if you can, because your salary at future jobs can be pegged to this first job for years.

I hear you! I've given up hope that my status will ever say anything different than "application received", even if I receive COPR.

I would definitely pick the first one. Sounds like the most promising and secure. And a very nice bonus that it is top 20. I also like the idea of making equal to your husband, but I could be biased since I am a teacher and my income is peanuts (in the States anyway). ;)

My wife sent an email this afternoon to change her address to my Montreal address (since my family is moving next week), and also a request for status update. She got a same day response (in less than 3 hours) from yet another visa officer (NN05116).

The email says:
Your mailing address has been updated. Please allow up to 15 days for the change to take into effect on our website.
Your application is in process. No further action is required by you at this time.
An immigration officer will be in contact with you if any further correspondence is needed.
We thank you for your patience and for keeping your correspondence to a minimum.
It will be interesting to see how long it actually takes for ECAS to be updated with her address.

Ha, when I originally received PPR that was my case processor as well. According to the latest email though stating my application is now in process my officer is NNO5116.
My new theory about this VO (who responded to my wife's email today) is that he/she is the only one remaining in Ottawa to respond to emails - everyone else is on vacation.g

I think you are right, the last VO to respond to me a few weeks ago was NN05116 as well!

LOL...welcome to NN05116. I think you might be right. The only two officers in Ottawa might be SB01716 and NN05116 and SB01716 seems to have taken the summer off.
