Perhaps it has expired and they need a new one. Sometimes if they expire they don't request a new one, sometimes they do.

The police certificate counts IF she has lived anywhere else.. it's just formality they have to say.
I spoke to someone from the call centre and they mentioned that it IS possible that a VO will ask for both the FBI certificate AND police certificate of the state she resides in. I did check the website again and did see:

---

http://www.cic.gc.ca/english/information/security/police-cert/north-america/united-states.asp

"Do I need to provide a police certificate when applying for permanent residence?

Yes, Applicants should provide a Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) certificate with fingerprints. State certificates may also be requested. The Visa Office will advise you if state certificates are required in your case."

--

So it is possible they are doing an extra check on my wife. Why, I do not know - she has a completely clean record, no history of trouble.

Only the VO knows. We did e-mail them for more details. Hopefully they will reply soon.

And what is the next step after status switch to "in process"? which state is that ? how much did it take them to reply to you again?
Thanks.
My ecas changed to "decision made" 5days after "in process" so I emailed them to find out what the decision was and got a reply back that state "confirmation of your permanent residence has been sent to you, you should receive it shortly". Am now waiting for that to come through Canada post.

Oh, it's definitely possible, but only needed when CIC asks for it. They didn't, so don't worry about it.

Chances are, they lost it. Or your wife is a criminal mastermind and you don't know it yet.

They did mentioned both FBI and Police certificate in the e-mail, though it may be a formality like another poster mentioned. Anyway my wife is getting both done today to be safe instead of waiting around for a reply back from CPP-O

Does anyone know if it is possible to talk to someone in CPP-O over the phone regarding my case? Is it only e-mail? All I see regarding contact information for CPP-O is an e-mail address, fax number and snail mail address.
If an officer calls you and gives you her or his phone number, then you can talk to them directly. Otherwise, no, there's no mechanism for talking to the visa officer directly.

Yeah I hear you. I know that you have one clean shot at this and if there are any snags, they put your case aside and god knows when they will get back to it. Hence another reason why I'm so depressed about this. Even if I get that new letter mailed to them in time, who knows when they will pick it up again.

*sigh*

I hope you gets yours through soon.
I hope your case is processed soon as well. I hope I wasn't too pessimistic in my response to you. After hearing nothing for 4-5 months though after getting so excited about PPR and now this strike, our patience (and bank account) is being tested to the max. I've never considered myself a control freak, but this process is enough to make anyone start to pull their hair out. There's only so much yoga and meditation one person can do! Haha :D

So, when should I start getting worried about not getting my COPR after my ECAS changed to Decision Made?

Ugh of course.
I was told his COPR was issued on June 28th, and now I have no clue about what's going on, or if it's been mailed...

It's been on on the CIC website since last week.

This really doesn't impact Ottawa office so much as overseas offices... in fact, since the strike, they seem to be moving faster.

Thanks. yeah I went from elation to depression in a snap. Now I'm just really disappointed. I have to pray that the new FBI letter gets here before 60 days and even when i send that in, I have to hope they will pick up my case shortly afterwards. But I dunno. Anyway hang in there. I'm doing my best to do so also

Brightredscream, if you're in the US, I can tell you that mine took about 2 1/2 weeks to arrive after the COPR processing. Mine was supposed done on June 13th, and I received it on July 1st. Just be waiting at the mailbox every day... ::)

He's in the US...
Our address hasn't even changed over on ECAS, so I'm worried.
Plus it got issued in the midst of Canada Day and July 4th...it's been almost two and a half weeks now!
I suck at patience lol

I guess e-mail is best. What is the overall sentiment regarding e-mail responsiveness from the VO? The first time I e-mailed them awhile ago, they replied back in the same day. This time, no feedback so far. Do people fine that overall they do respond? Sounds like it is mixed - some have good experiences, other not so good..
