Yes. It will say "Valid until: DATE" and that's when the COPR will expire and you will have to go through the entire process all over again. So land before that date.
It did not say Valid Date on my husband's COPR. It just said that there was a day the medicals and security clearance expired which is a year from now according to the papers he received. Maybe he didn't check it over clearly enough but he's pretty thorough.

Do they give you considerable time? Or is it something like a 2 or 3 week period?

I have read on these forums that COPR is valid until the medical expiration date or the passport expiration date...whichever is earliest.

On the COPR, under "Application Details" the validity date is the top of the right hand column: "Valid to: YYYY/MM/DD"

Normally, it is the earlier of the passport expiration date or the medical report expiration date.

Didn't anybody forewarn you about moving to New Jersey? Don't move to New Jersey haha. Or anywhere in that area to be honest. I have lived all over the U.S. and the Northeast (not counting New England area as I haven't lived there)and North Carolina have to be the worst places I lived. (Chapel Hill area is quite nice though, same can be said about Asheville)
I love Chapel Hill, home of the awesome Tarheels. The rest of NC, I can take it or leave it for the most part. But it's still special to me since it's where I was born and raised.

Normally, its validity is dependent on other documents "the medical"

Question for anyone with experience with this, but last month I got a request for a copy of my passport and proof of intent to reside in Canada. So I had sent them what they had asked for.

This week my update on the website says:

We received your application for permanent residence on June 27, 2012.

We started processing your application on March 11, 2013.

Medical results have been received.

A decision has been made on your application. The office will contact you concerning this decision.
Does anyone know what this could mean, should I expect a package or a phone call or email?

Thanks!

You already got PPR - that's what the decision is about.

Congratulations! It looks like approval!

Thank you! I was getting nervous since I thought you had to send a hard copy of your passport to them, but is it different for US Citizens?

Also one last question if someone has done it, if I am staying in Canada currently as a visitor do I have to leave and come back or can I get it done somewhere in Toronto to finalize the PR since I applied for outland? Sorry if this question gets answered in the PR I get sent just let me know! =)

You don't have to send in your passport for visa exempt citizens, which include US citizens. People usually get a request to send in new copies of the pages, however, there have been a few people lately that got their COPR without the request - CIC used the passport pages supplied at the same of the application.

You can make an appointment to land inside Toronto or go to the border and "flagpole."

I saw make a trip out of it. Go see Niagra Falls and land while returning from the American side. Totally what I would do if I lived out east :)

Ours was until the medical extension expired, so a year.

OK, question for you guys, I applied to move to Alberta to live with my husband. My 21 year old daughter and I live in Texas, and our medical expires, I think, on the 7th of December. She is in a 2 year college certificate program now and wants to finish it in the fall. Unfortunately, school will end right before Christmas, or about 10 days after the medical expires. Has anyone experienced anything like this? All I've seen are the scary comments about starting the process over, but it seems a little weird that your child would have to stop taking courses during the process because they didn't know the timing or drop out mid-semester. Heading to bed soon, may have to respond later, but will come back to read responses, as this is causing some turmoil.

Why would she need to drop out of school? She can fly up for a holiday (e.g., US Thanksgiving) and land and then fly back afterwards.

Has anyone emailed Ottawa to ask a question regarding their case before the normal processing times were up and received a reply?
