CPCO Request - Visa Length and Medicals Timeline Problem

Hey everyone,

I finally got the golden email, I am beyond happy but I have a few questions.

My medicals are due to March 15th - the time that I took the test - and medicals were passed by April 10th.

I got the CPCO - PPR- request on Nov 23th. I'll send my passport to get landing visa. They usually give 6 months to prepare yourself to your land.

But I know the fact that they give the one entrance visa until the date your medicals expiry.
That means they will provide me only 3,5 month timeline to get ready.

Is there any way to request an extension? I also have tourist visa for Canada and that expries in 2022.

Any help would be appreciated.

Cheers!

No, you can not request an extension now. CIC doesn't listen to this. Better prepare to land.

Thanks! What about soft landing? Is there any risks and is it legal? I wouldn't go anything illegal.
Sure people do soft landings all the time all completely legal. Just remember once you land you need to meet the residency obligation of 2 years out of 5 from initial landing so do not stay away outside Canada too long, near 3 years is the absolute maximum but then you would need to stay in country for 2 years without leaving.

You will need to read up about a goods to follow declaration and if you do not have a Canadian address for your PR card be prepared to apply for a PRTD after you return to your home country. A soft landing gives you time to sort out a SIN and bank account.

If you have a friends address for your PR card they could courier it to you in your home country. Once you are a PR you need either a card or a PRTD to board a plane given any visas will be void post PR landing.

Thank you so much. Yes, after the soft landing, I'll probably move for good in 6 months.

I have question related this one, I got PPR yesterday and now, I am in dilemma as I am inside the Canada and I need to go back to india on 11th Jan and right now Canadapost strike and Xmas vacation is going on so don't know how long it take to get back my passport?
Do they increase the time period for submitting passport?
I can not postpone my flight.

Isn't the Canada post strike over? I just submitted my passport this Friday... There are some delays because of the long strike, but it is over now.
