Hi, i have got offer letter from uni of ottawa for masters. I can do only masters or pg diploma to get student visa because of my previous studies. I want to know whether i can do the course i want to do after getting visa means can i change the course and uni after arriving in canada?

Whether it is a good option? Is it okay to do the courses which has a better scope rather than doing masters only because u have no other option... And what are the various courses which are good for girls and has better scope?

I would stick with the Masters if your plan is to remain in Canada and eventually immigrate.

Yes - but you'll have to notify CIC.

Ok thnks. But if there will be any problm, if i shift to a course which is not related to my previous studies?

Hello Andy & Scylla

I have the same query. I am expecting a response from one university, while, another will not finalize its decision any soon. Both are Masters programs, first one starts in August, while the other starts un Sept.
As I understand from the response above, I only need to notify to CIC.

However, i read on canadavisa.org, that visa officer can insert a restricting clause. What can I do to avoid this restricting clause. I have quoted from the website below for reference:

Quote:
Changing Schools
As per current regulations, you may not need to obtain a new study permit in order to transfer between educational institutions. Be sure to check whether your study permit contains a condition restricting you to studying at one specific institution is not amongst the conditions.. Visa officers may indicate a specific educational institution on your study permit at their own discretion.

CanadaVisa website > Home > Study > Renewing or Changing Your Study Permit

Secondly, is further information available on this 'change of university' on the CIC website, other than:wwwcic.gc.ca/english/study/study-changes.asp?

Lastly, in the link, the word CIC uses is 'transfer'. Its a general / ordinary reference right, and does not suggests or means transfer of credit / courses from one university to another?

Thanks!
