Hi,

Me and my wife are going Canada for an academic conference. We intend to apply online, but it seems there is only space for one person to submit the whole package (like employment information, financial support, invitation letter, etc). The other person is there as an 'accompany'. Our question is: if it is OK that we apply for the reason of attending academic conference for one person, and include the second family member as an accompany (again, because there is no place for the second people to upload the related files)?

Other solutions I can think of are:
(ii) Applying paper wise;
(iii) To start two separate applications (if in this way, do we say no family member is accompanying? because if we choose yes, the online application system will let us to include the second family member).

Thank you so much.

I believe both of you just do the online, on the part of the accompany, just put a yes. but still both of you has to apply. both of you attach the same files

Why would yo need to upload more than is asked for? Only submit what you are asked for. The main applicant is the one which should prove his/her visit is legit.

If you still think this will make a "stronger case" attach to "financial support" documents for both as a single file, and so on....

Yes it is OK

It is the same as online. The difference is that CIC will have to discard documentation that was not requested.

Much more difficult. The systems asks if you want to submit "the other family member" application and then ask for documents. You should say yes you are coming with someone (is this even asked?) and then NO when prompted to submit documents for that person.
