Country/territory of issue of passport

Hi all,

Just wondering what's considered the territory of issue of the passport? Does it refer to the nation the passport belongs to, or the country where it was actually issued (a foreign country for example).

I have an Indian passport, but my most recent one was issued by the Indian Consulate General in the United Arab Emirates. Does that make the UAE the territory of issue then?

Your country of Citizenship is considered as the country or territory for this purpose. So no matter where your passport was issued, in your case, India will be the territory.
