Hi guys,

My partner and I are going to apply for inland common law sponsorship.

Regarding documents for my identification, I prepared photocopies of my passport and any pages with Canadian border stamps.
Do I need to notarize these sheets?

Another question is: do I need to submit the photocopy of my national ID and family book? They are not specified in the country-specific required documents.

I thought I don’t have to provide them, but I saw someone are going to provide those documents.

Please help!

Hi, you need to check the website to find out if your documents need to be translated. For example, my spouse's passport did not need to be notarized but any translated documents (in our case, his birth certificate) did need to be certified. And again, unless it asks for a copy of your national ID/family book then no, you do not need to provide a copy. But, in one form it does ask if you have a identification card specific to your country and in this area you can list the number/issue date/expiry date of that document. Hope this helps!

Thanks for your reply.
Yes. When I checked the website for country-specific required documents. There are none. I have my birth certificate translated and notarized. I have an original police certificate. I also filled out the section for national ID as you mentioned.
I heard that some people from my country applied outland were requested for a photocopy of their family books and national card by the processing visa office. I am wondering whether the Canadian visa office would also request for them later on.

Then have those documents ready in case they do ask...there’s no way for us to say if they’ll ask you. Have them available.
