On the IMM0008, question 10 it asks, the start date and end date of my residency status in my country of residence. I am in Canada, but I extended my stay, and my last extension was for June 15th, obviously it's much past that now. What am I supposed to put for the end of my status since I am on implied status? I can't put a date older then today.

How are you on implied status if you're only just now filling out the forms and haven't applied yet? If your status expired in June and you had no application running at the time, then you're out of status. What's giving you implied status?

I think you can apply for restoration of status within 90 days of expiration, but I have no experience with that so better wait for some other replies first.

I extended my visitor status.

I extended my visitor status.
But you said your last extension expired June 15? You say, "My last extension was for June 15," - I took that to mean that was your extension expiration date. Or is that the extension start date? If so, for how long was your extension?

That was the day my extension ended. I extended again a week prior to June 15th, which would have been the day my status ended. I have implied status now because my extension is still an outgoing application. My question to start was, what is the end date of my country of residency? I have no clue since my most recent application hasn't been answered to yet.

Ooooh okay, that makes sense. Any idea on how long til you get the extension? Cause yeah, this is a bit tricky now. You can't guess a date, but you also can't spell IMPLIED in there. Is it one of the forms that need to be validated? Cause if not then you could leave it empty and write a separate explanation, but if not, I'm really not sure.

Yea, it must be validated. Does anyone know? I figured putting the date I requested my extension for, then explain it in my letter of explanation?

I think the instructions say that when you’re not sure about a date you should write “******”, so maybe try that, write a letter of explanation, and provide proof of your previous status as well as proof that you applied for an extension

Not able to do that. Since it is a form that has to be validated, it requires you to write an actual date.

Then maybe write the expiry date of your original visitor document and write a letter of explanation plus proof that you applied for an extension

Not possible, I can't put a date earlier then today's date. I read somewhere that people write down the date of printing out/validating the form, then send it off that way with a explination.

Isn’t there a checkbox where you can check “current” or “ongoing”? I don’t remember having this date issue with my son’s application, although we also did a visitor extension in Canada.

If you could somehow get in contact with them (I know there's a call centre) and confirm, that would probably be best.

Your other option is to either wait for your extension to come through or just do what you said - put in the date on which you print and sign the form, and then write a separate explanation. I'm sure it's not the first time they've seen this.

I'd still try to confirm with someone first, though.

Put today's date and explain.
