People, do not bother with the big companies for internet if you want to save money...

Look up TekSavvy... (http://teksavvy.com/) pay less for the same quality with these guys... i've got cable for $45/month and a 1.8mb connection that has been rock solid so far and i believe i'm saving a big chunk vs. the big companies and and very good data limits...

I also researched and saved more than 50% on the cost of purchasing a modem...

Ask me if you need any further specific info.

hey boss ...
if you go down to brampton side ... or missisauga ...
and if u find any asian people ... most likeliy the indian or pakiz ... you could get a accommodation for $600- 1br .. including evrything ... and a nice one in brampton with 2br - for not more then 850$....
and your other expenses would gonna be the same as other areas ... such as ... grocery...insurance...gas ..

Dear forum members already in Canada,
Can I bring LCD 45" television to Canada from Saudi Arabia? I found in some threads that it is not wise to bring such things due to some voltage difference but what you guys say if I use some device to change voltage.
Thanks & regards

hey TAWAKAL !!! yes i live in canada!!
... yeah i am talking about just basement only ... there are some newly built ... on the countryside of brampton ... really peaceful and nice area ... and if you go up to east side ... those houses are old ... but still some of those has nice basmnt apts. ....
its around gonna be the same rent any where except toronto downtown ... lakeshore side area ...
you could find the flyers for the rentals any where ... like on the bus stops ... shoping malls ... mostly on religious places ike church and temples !!!
and if you want apt. in a building ... it might range from $850-$1050 ... for 1br and depending on the area you chose to live ....
condos are always high in range ... but you could find nice and cheap if your luck travels with you !!!!
best way to find accommodation ... go online ... kijiji.ca , craiglist, renters.com , etc
:)

So a family of 4 can find a place to stay easily with 1300CAD and above in North York,Toronto?

MY wife and I live near to downtown (Ossington Subway) in a spacious basement of a well maintained house. I will put down our monthly expense as follows:

Monthly rent - 900 (inclusive of high speed internet, TV and utilities)

Grocery - 350 (we shop from No Frills, which is just few minutes walk from our house)

TTC Monthly passes - 252

Telephone - 110

Misc - 200

Total - $ 1812

We have tried to manage to live in the above range for the past 7 months since landing. Will upgrade to an apartment soon since I have just landed on a job (after 8 months of struggle). But we are very happy with our current location which is very safe and easily accessible by TTC:)
