On $100K income, the (federal + state) taxes you pay are:

BC - $27,288
ON - $27,583
Alberta - $29,593

With some standard tax deductions that are allowed, you may actually pay less.
Thanks Saki for posting this.

I had Australian experience as well. I never faced Discrimination incident while my stay. What I found in Australia, The sunlight is very sharp and it affects your skin if you expose too much. To get a job in Australia is much easy then Canada. If you have a job, you can buy anything what you want.
hard to live when you don't have job such as Canada..............
planning to go back to Australia......

I am not sure where SAKI shops, but a loaf of bread where I buy it is just one dollar, a liter of milk is $1-25 average weekly wage is above $1,200-00 ( before tax) New cars from about $12,00-00 and just go up and pick your level. Beer in a carton of 24 from about $34-00 and up. A GOOD bottle wine ten bucks! A pair of jeans ( levis no, cut similiar YES!) from $10-00 A liter of petrol about $1-30 depending on the day, a kilo of chicken breast fillets, average around $7-99, lower in some areas higher in others, a kilo of rump steak $6-99 in bulk buy. Leather shoes, hey you can pay 10 grand if you like but you can also pick them up for about $40-00 SO I am not sure what world SAKI lives in, but he pays a lot more for his stuff than I do..on racism in Australia, when one in 4 is born somewhere else, and 3 out of 4 kids have at least one parent born overseas, I think this puts things in to a perspective! Minimum allowed hourly rate for an adult over 18 is around $16-00, tax FREE threshold has just gone up to $18,000-00 per year, meaning you DO NOT have to pay income tax till you arrive at this level, gross government revenues with LESS people than Canada is around $330 BIL Canada collects about $220 Bil, on current trends the Aus economy will overtake Canada's within 5 years.
