Can a copy of the IELTS result that was used to satisfy language requirement when coming to Canada 4 years ago as an immigrant be used now to satisfay Language Requirment for Cirizenship Application?

The original was send when Immigration Application was processed. The copy is not that legible however the name and photo of the applicant as well as the Result ( Aggregate 6) is visible.

Anyone has any experience in this matter?

Yes you can sent the copy only. It's accepted as a proof.

They will check whether is legit by the number of the certificate.

Thanks MUFC & Tamara for your responses.

One of my friend send a copy of the IELTS result for his son (who is 22 yrs. now and attending a college full-time ) however CIC has returned the application stating the language requirement hasn't been met. His son (the applicant for Citizenship) came to Canada as an immigrant 4 years ago and had filed the same IELTS result to CIC at that time.

I should also mention that the father (my friend) had completed a 1 year Diploma program from a College in Toronto and his wife completed a LINC program (has a Certificate)- they send those documenst and their application were accepted.

Now, should my friend's son write a letter stating that IELTS result should be acceptaed and re-send the Appliaction as is?

1. My question would be, if the emigrated as a family, the son would not have taken IELTs for the application. He may have taken Academic IELTs to go to University, but Academic is not acceptable for CIC, it has to be General.

I submitted by expired Generic IELTS and was accepted as language proof. I know this for sure because I saw that in my ATIP report.

Academic version is not accepted.

I think, most likely this is what happened.

Now, what the Applicant should do? He is 22 years old and in a 4 years degree program - still 1 year to go before getting a degree.

Ditto.

And that's what I'm doing also. In my case, though, I have graduated from a 2-year program. But just in case CIC decides it doesn't suffice, I'm going to take the CELPIP G-LS.
