Can one use a COPR (conformation of permanent residence) to proof ones status in Canada in order to apply for a US visa? I am still waiting for my card but have my appointment at the us consulate for the us visitor visa in 2 days.

Please advice

Thanks

I would sincerely hope so as that COPR is still a proof of your PR in Canada!

i think once you are a PR, you don't need a VISA to visit the US.

No!! Permanant residents of Canada are not exempted from visa requirements in USA. They still need a visa to visit USA. Only Canadian citizens can visit USA without visa.

hi. you still need a us visa even if you are a pr!!! unless you are a passport holder of a country that is visa exempted. when you become a citizen of canada and holds a canadian passport, that's the time you dont need a us visa. copr is accepted for us visa application. that is also a valid canadian document. you can actually go out canada and come back with your copr, and the canadian immigration will accept it.

Hi, I received my COPR letter but the counterfoil stamped on my passport says category: Immigrant as compared to others with category: Permanent Resident. What is the difference?
