COPR - wrong last name

I just received my COPR but it has my previous last name and not my married name on it, can I still land and have my PR card printed with my married name or do I need to have CIC issue a new COPR?

Back story; I applied in August in my old last name, at the end of August I changed my US passport to my married name and sent a new copy to CIC. In January they finally updated everything to my married name on ECAS and have emailed me since in my married name. I saw DM last Saturday in my married name, this week I logged in again and it was all back to my previous last name and now my COPR arrived in my old last name.

I wanted to go to the border tomorrow and land but want my PR card in my married name. What can I do?

I suggest you give CBSA a call and ask if they will let you land with the COPR in your maiden name.

I will give it a try, the COPR has my old passport number listed as well. In the instructions (now that we read them) say any name or passport number discrepancies need to have the COPR mailed back to Ottawa to be corrected.

Good to hear CIC being thorough and efficient as always.

As it has your old passport number on it, i think that would pose a problem landing. I'd call CBSA and/or CIC. Probably have to mail it back to Ottowa to get it reissued.

It's ridiculous, the mess I've been through with them losing or messing up parts of my application are insane. I can't find a number for the border but we are only 20 minutes away so I may hop the border tomorrow, get some groceries in the US and ask on the way back in.
I'm assuming I'll have to mail the COPR back in and get them to fix it. I wonder how long that will take :-\

I have seen others land when they had both passports. What CIC says and what CBSA does can be very dfferent, so definitely give them a call.

When I cross I usually have both my old and new passport with as when I was given my VR to live here while my app was processed CIC hadn't updated my name yet so CBSA listed my new name in my VR and my old name in the notes.

So words of wisdom to others wanting to change their name after they send their app in, just wait until you land to change it.

If you can't find another number, then it's worth just giving it a shot tomorrow since you're so close to the border. Either they let you land or they tell you have the COPR corrected and you've only lost a few hours.

Agree with above. In addition, even if you do get through by phone, there is no guarantee that what the person tells you then is what the border agent is going to actually do.

When I look closer too it's my old married name and passport number. I'm going to go to the border today and try and see if they can fix it and let me land.
I hope if it works I won't have issues getting my SIN number tomorrow and applying for OHIP.
