Hello, my application for pr was approved and the original letter asked me to send photos and if i was from a country that required it to also send my passport. Im from the usa so i only sent the photos and got the email below today.

I cant tell if they simply want me to scan the passport and send it as stated in the email of if they want me to send them my actual passport. Does anyone have any ideas? Why would they want both?

Dear Applicant,

The processing of your application is complete. However, this letter is a reminder to submit the stated missing documentation.

Missing Document(s):

o Copy/scan of Original Passports for you and for each accompanying family member (in order to apply the Permanent Resident Visa on it, as your Passport is from a country that is not exempt from Canadian Visa)

Submitting Original Passports

Passports for you and all accompanying family members must be submitted together. There must be at least one blank visa page in each passport. If there are children included in your passport there must be blank visa pages for them as well.

Please reply to this email with a scanned attachment of your biometric page in your passport. We require a Copy in order to finalize your application.

as you are a us citizen, you are visa exempt, so you need to send a copy of your passport to the visa office. Even though you sent a copy with your application, you need to submit another copy for your passport request. CIC needs to confirm your name has not changed and your passport is valid for 6+ months. This is a standard passport request. if they request the copy, you have to send it. not everyone gets PPR waived.

scan a copy to that email address...

I hate to bump this one but had another question. I sent the passport scan and the automated reply said it takes them 20 days to respond? Does anyone have experience with this?

that is an automatic response everyone gets. it's nothing to worry about. there's no need for you to get a response because your "response" will be the copr they mail to you. if you are that concerned it didn't go through, then send it again through a case specific inquiry.
