I recently received my COPR with city of destination as Toronto. My application was approved after I accepted nomination under Ontario PNP program.

I currently live in Sydney, Aus and there is no direct flight to Toronto from here.

Is it acceptable if I travel to Toronto through Vancouver as a stopover? Would I have to do the landing formalities in Vancouver in this case? I am hoping my OINP shouldn't be a problem here.

I am unable to find any similar case so far. Any help would be really appreciated!

You can land in Vancouver - no issues. Make sure you leave at least a couple of hours between landing in Vancouver and your onward flight.

Thanks! Any similar case you have seen yourself? I am a bit worried as I have OINP nomination. I will of course carrying a connecting ticket all the way to Toronto even if I first land in Vancouver. Nervous times :)

Not a problem as long as you can provide an address in Ontario for the PR Card delivery.

I received COPR under Novascotia PNP programme. I have got the flight via Montreal to Novoscotia. Is there any problem in landing Montreal as POE or I need to provide any other document. My immigration process will be in Novoscotia/ Montreal. Pls reply.

As long as you have connecting flight, no problems. You might need a NS address for PR card delivery.

Hi,

This is a little outdated and written by a Filipino meant for Philippine immigrants to Canada but I think it still helps:

You might want to read it.

Happy landing!

Thanks!

I hope a reference letter from bank works for proof of funds? I don't plan to take cash or bank draft with me.

Not sure about not bringing a bank demand draft or cash, but I think they just need to make sure you have access to your funds. Try going to prepareforcanada.com and catching the free webinar sponsored by Scotiabank about bringing your funds to Canada or getting the free e-books:

Experts,
Needs your opinion on the below:

For a Skilled worker Catergory immigrant,

1. If the point of destination in the COPR is Toronto, then can he lands in Vancouver to do the landing formailities ?
2. At the immigration counter, can he give the address of PR card delivery of Alberta ?

Thanks

Sydney is much better than here.

You will do landing paperworks in the first port on entry in Canada, Vancouver in your case. There is no problem with that, just have the connect flight itinerary or any proof that you are landing in Ont. They deal with this all the time

Hi Friend - am also on the same boat now. If you had already flown to Canada and did the landing formalities in BC Vancouver, please share your experience..

Friends - I have the same situation, but only planning for soft landing. I am planning to land in Vancouver for a week though am from OINP nominee and COPR designation is Toronto. I am planning to book the flight tickets only up to Vancouver and will return back without visiting Toronto/ Ontario during the soft landing. Will this be OK or will I have any issues?

Appreciate your response.
