Hello everybody,

I'm totally excited! My COPR came in today!

I do have some questions though.

I understand that when I take the plane to Quebec Montreal, that I have to go to immigration at Trudeau airport, and go to a Border Services Agency Officer with my COPR and my CSQ. I understand that he's going to sign my COPR and that I have to sign it then too.
Then they are going to start my application for a permanent resident card also. Is this correct?

Then I wonder how long does it take to get my permanent resident card?
And when am I allowed to work? Am I allowed to work immidiately already or do I have to wait until I have my permanent resident card?

And what else can I expect at the border service agency at the airport? Does anybody know?

I'm so happy. I just called my boyfriend in Montreal.

I wish everybody who's still waiting good luck!!!

hi remrov,
once you landed and pass through the immigration , you have become a canadian citizen, you will receiveing your pr by mail. as for working you will nedd to get your sin number which you will get as soon as you apply for it then you will get your sin card later on, with the sin number you can work directly.hope its help. happy days are near for you bye

Okay, thank you for your respons.

And do you know where I can apply for a SIN numer?

I already have a job in Montreal so I want to start working as soon as possible.

Well, you won't be a citizen just yet! But you will be a permanent resident. For the SIN, you can go to a Service Canada location.

Read this information: http://www.servicecanada.gc.ca/eng/sc/sin/index.shtml

The link to find a Service Canada location is at the bottom of the page.

Congratulations!

Below is the Montreal central Service Canada Office:

Thank you for your responses!

I want to stay a permanent resident. I don't want to become a Canadian Citizen. I just want to keep my Dutch citizenship.

citizenship is not an obligation, you can take it anytime you want
