Thank you so much for sharing this with us,such a ray of hope! At least they replied, could you please share the mail received? my copr issuance is november too, and is about to expire in march , I've raised a webform, still waiting for response.
Thank you for contacting Immigration, Refugees and Citizenship Canada (IRCC).

This is in reference to your application for permanent residence in Canada.

We have received your request to extend the duration within which you can confirm your status as a permanent resident. Please be assured that your application will not be refused if you are unable or unwilling to travel as a result of the COVID-19 pandemic.

If the situation is resolved and you are able to travel within the existing validity of your documents, you may do so. Otherwise, once you and your family members are able to travel, please notify us through the IRCC Web form. At that time, IRCC will respond with the most up to date information we have on next steps.

As per the notification from IRCC yesterday post March 18 COPR holders are not exempted from travelling..so actually we just need to wait patently..i received this response before December 23 after which IRCC stated we should not raise ready to travel web form but wait until they contact us.

Thank you so much, I was worried that my application would be refused if I don't travell before expiry. Now all I have is to wait for restrictions to be lifted , and then travel or ask for extension if my copr is expired before the removal of restrictions. Am I getting it right? for the recall, I'm post march 18.

If your COPR is expired before the removal of restrictions then you will need to wait until IRCC contacts you..Mine expired on 20th January and waiting for an update from IRCC. Will keep the forum posted if i receive any update.

Hi Sarah, I am on the same boat with you with the same COPR issuance and expiry months and was thinking to contact IRCC to ask for an extension, but now from what I read here I see that we should just wait, am I correct?
I am afraid of the scenario that if the travel restrictions have changed allowing us to travel just few days before COPR expiry? we will not have enough time to prepare for landing. what should we do in this case?!

Hi All,

Need your kind advice, please.
under the definition of immediate family members from the IRCC website:
  • parents or step-parents of the spouse or common-law partner.
I am the principal applicant and my wife's mother is a PR holder who currently lives in Canada. I have declared when I submitted my PR application, so based on my understanding I am exempt from the travel restrictions. Is my understanding correct?

Furthermore, do I need to contact them via the webform to highlight this point or they will automatically take it into account when they process my application?

It is worth mentioning that I applied via SINP, so I am a PNP and my wife's mother lives in Ontario, not sure if this will affect this exemption negatively.

Appreciate your responses.

Hopefully we will hear good news shortly, good luck to you!

i have decided to sale all of my properties and most of those things which may take long time. But continuing my job. Our ancestors must have taught us well....!!!.... i think CIC will provide us 2 months for flying. so booking flights in a higher price is must and we have to consider it. Waited a long to live the maple dream and i am sure we can wait a little bit longer.
FYI i am also in the same boat. MED and PR visa is about to expire in 05 June'21 but CIC provided me a long expiry of COPR that is 05 Jan'22.
Best wishes for the upcoming fights.

Hi can you please tell me how you extended the copr validity to 2022

@Renalpe I am a software engineer and my employer is sending me to Canada onsite. My copr is after march 18. Can I travell now by giving 2000$ for quarantine?
After march 18 copr holders cant travel, but some say if you have job offers, you can.. it is not just by giving 2000 dollars...you can look guidelines on IRCC website.
