COPR and coronavirus

hello friends, my CoPR expires in October 2020. I am too in a fix as my country has completely halted aviation services and am really clueless as to how will I be able to land. Really regretting not landing before this Pandemic.

By August/September it should be safe to travel, don't worry

Hello all,

My parents' PR approved on April 1st, 2020, and will be expired on July 24, 2020.

So they could not come to Canada now, since for PR visa holders only whom got approved on or before March 18 can be exempted.

I am also thinking about the exemptions for immediate family members... But there are some uncertainties here:

• With the PR visa, the purpose of coming to Canada is clearly as "PR landing". Which seemed to be conflict with the "immediate family members" exemption...
• Essential reasons for coming to Canada - Checked on website, reasons like "offering medical supplies" or "taking care of sick family members" are essential... Hard for us to offer similar essential reasons, from "immediate family" exemption perspective.

Still trying to see if any way my parents can come to Canada before the PR visa expiring date, to avoid the extension process...

Anybody in the same boat, and would like to share some thoughts?

To all - I have seen a lot of debate on soft landing in Canada, that it is a part of Non-Essential and one should not land if they are not going to be in permanently. That's absolutely wrong, please check the below web page

IT clearly mention that Non-Essential Travel is:-

Essential refers to travel for reasons that are non discretionary and non optional. The emergency orders under the Quarantine Act do not allow people to travel to Canada for optional or discretionary reasons, such as for tourism, recreation or entertainment.

So it is allowed to do soft landing and come back.

Hello all!

I am pretty much new to this forum. And was looking for information on travelling to Canada during this time. I have got my COPR and passport stamped (validity end is 25th June, 2020). I plan to travel to Canada on 12th June. I just wanted to know the checklist of things that I need to do before I come in. Such as:
(i) Book an appointment: I seem to see people talk about this but not sure what exactly needs to be done?
(ii)Do i need to take medical insurance before I travel?

In short, I just wanted to know the list of things that you did before you traveled. If there are any links that someone can point out to me that would be very helpful!

PS: I would be travelling from the UK. Thanks in advance!

(ii) medical insurance isn't a requirement for landing, you can take it for your own peace of mind

Guys, has any of the newly landed found a workaround to apply for a SIN?

I am also interested in this as I will be landing in 3 weeks (*crosses fingers*)

In the SIN application form, we need to mention a permanent address. I am assuming the Airbnb address that I will be using for a month won't do. However I will need a SIN to pretty much do everything I need to do when I land so this situation is quite confusing...

Gday mate, if your ME is everything okay and no more to check more and evaluation more to get the MEP. that is the M1.
if there is some basic illness need to do more analysis the heath status when doing the ME, that is the M3 always.

Hello to Everyone and hope that some you can share your wisdom on this matter

Our (me and my family) COPRs expire next week. We made a conscious decision to not travel during this time. We would have to go from South East Asia and would have required to make at-least 1 or 2 transits at travel hubs to reach Canada as there are no direct flights. With long travel time and a toddler with us led us to decide to not travel until the situation improves.
At the same time, we didn't even book any tickets (that I had planned to do in Jan/Feb) hence I can't really say that my flight was cancelled.

I raised webform stating my concerns and asking explicitly what options do we have if we can't travel but have only got a automated/generic response on the same.

I am concerned that our approved COPRs will be withdrawn and we may have to go through the entire process again!

Are there others who have made a conscious decision to not travel and informed IRCC - Have you got any response from IRCC and if so what is it?
I feel like I should raise another web form and inform them again but I am also conscious that response will be delayed due to IRCC's workload?

I had received same reply for my web form initially.Then the second response is same as others are getting.

I received below reply to my webform from IRCC on COPR extension request. This is not a generic reply as name of IRCC agent was mentioned in the signature
Has anyone else received this type of reply?

We verified the information you provided regarding extension request for the COPRs and PR visas along with the supporting documents and have forwarded them to the responsible office.


They will contact you if further information is required or if a decision is made on your application.

Our COPR have expired on April 30th.We have already raised the web form around mid of April and we got a generic reply from IRCC.

On May 5th We have raised another webform informing them about our inability to travel and we got the exact reply as above from an IRCC agent(Not genric reply)

We verified the information you provided and have forwarded it to the responsible office.

They will contact you if further information is required or if a decision is made on your application.

They didn't mention which office they have forwarded it.

I hope it would be mainly the Visa office which has processed our application.

Any suggestion do i need to mail them asking about the responsible office and send the mail to them again or no action is required from my end.

Please provide your suggestions on thsi which will be really helpful..

Thanks @saad_im , also I was reading somewhere (not sure where) that due to the current situation, they want to ensure that no test covid +ve coming into the country. Do we need to provide any medical results for the same? Or is it that the do the tests (as in check temperature) on landing in Canada?
