there are no excluded (SKILLED) occupations under express entry. But of course there are no guarantees that you'll receive an invitation to apply, even if you meet program requirements.

don't think so :
Entry into the Express Entry pool does not guarantee a candidate will be issued an Invitation to Apply (ITA) for permanent residence. Invited candidates still have to meet eligibility and admissibility requirements under Canada’s immigration law (Immigration and Refugee Protection Act).

5. Will Express Entry change immigration program requirements?

No. Express Entry will not change immigration program requirements. Express Entry is not a new program. It is a new way for CIC to manage the intake of economic immigration applications online.

so . if cook is excluded in 2014 , and no policy update, it will be still excluded possibly

It will change along with implementation of express entry. this has already been posted.

Here is a good summary of express entry -

Yes, cooks become eligible only if you can get the ITA.

Here's the new policy update:

Ministerial Instructions 15 (MI15): Instructions for Managing Certain Permanent Resident Applications in the Economic Class

Effective January 1, 2015, the fifteenth set of Ministerial Instructions (MI15) will repeal all processing eligibility criteria (including the application caps and eligible occupation lists) for new applications in the Federal Skilled Worker Class, Federal Skilled Trades Class and the Canadian Experience Class. This repeal will not affect the actual processing of applications received prior to January 1, 2015, and considered under MI12. From January 1 onwards application intake will be governed by the criteria for the new Express Entry application management system.

MI15 will renew the pauses on the receipt of new applications for the Federal Immigrant Investor Class and the Federal Entrepreneur Class. These pauses will remain in effect until further notice.

I m wonder the last two lines :

There will be no eligible occupations list
Whereas the current criteria for the Federal Skilled Worker Program includes a list of 50 eligible occupations, Citizenship and Immigration Canada (CIC) has confirmed that, as of January 1, 2015, eligibility for the program will not include a list of eligible occupations. Instead, candidates will have to demonstrate that they have worked at least one year in a skilled occupation within the past 10 years. Jobs in Canada are classified by what are called National Occupational Classification (NOC) codes, which are divided by skill level and skill type.

Similarly, the current list of ineligible occupations under the Canadian Experience Class (CEC) will not be in place under Express Entry.

I've already said yes, as long as you are able to get the Invitation (ITA) from the government. There's no more banned lists. Refer to the link i posted above to see the instructions by the minister.

Any one knows that cooks can apply for express entry
As long as you are on a three categories in Express Entry.. Federal Skilled, Federal skilled Trade and Canadian Experience Class. Cook is on NOC level B under Federal skilled Trade. Cooks are eligible to apply in Express Entry.

Dear all,

How a cook can prove documentation of working experience beside the reference letter from previous employer? I worked as a cook in the past for 2 years but unfortunately the restaurant was sold. Now the business is under different name under different owner. I can contact the previous manager to get a reference letter. Also, can a tax return form (W-2 form in the US) also be a solid documentation of my working experience?

Thank you in advance!
